Mayock's Day 2 comments

Recommended Posts

Some really good takes on WRs on this report.   I like Mayock's takes.  It doesn't really clear up a lot because many of the WRs that have been mentioned on this forum have good comments.  It comes down to what is our biggest need and who will be available at 24.

The first name on this list hasn't been mentioned much but damn.  4.34  This guy would fill the needs we want.

DJ Chark, LSU: Chark's blazing 4.34 40 time impressed Mayock, but after he smoothly caught passes in the gauntlet drill, Mayock really liked what he saw: "He had a real good Senior Bowl week and he's coming out and competing today."

Tight ends

Mark Andrews, Oklahoma: Mayock "loved" the 4.67 40 that Andrews ran at 256 pounds. After Andrews' workout, Mayock summed up the TE's performance: "Boy, he can catch the football and run some routes."

Mike Gesicki, Penn State: Gesicki's 4.54 40 popped up on the screen and Mayock hardly believed it: "Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah, folks. Alert, alert, because he's going to run and jump."

Hayden Hurst, South Carolina: The No. 1 tight end on Mayock's board, the draft analyst had more praise for the South Carolina product Saturday: "He blocks in addition to catching the football."

Mike Gesicki is on the radar now with 4.54 40 time.

Please pump the brakes on the Chark hype. He's a workout warrior. Tarzan in the gym, Jane on the football field.

I’m not so sure about that. He’s a really solid all around mid round prospect with plenty of things to be excited about at the next level.

Mid-round? Sure. Pre-combine I was talking about him as a potential in the 3rd but someone is taking that kid in the late 1st or early 2nd now. He's not worth that.

We’ll see, that’s possible but I still think he’ll be a mid second to early third.

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
