Panthers Bring Back G Amini Silatolu On One Year Deal

It's better to have a back-up guard you know than to be searching for both a starting guard and a back-up at the same time.

We're no worse for keeping him and his experience with the playbook and the guys on the line has decent value. In light duty, he can answer the bell when needed.

This forum kills me sometimes. Last season he was god awful and folks complained and complained, especially when he was brought back and was terrible his previous stint. Now folks appreciate him being brought back? There is quality depth and there is depth. He literally was pushed to the side during the Green Bay game from what I can recall.

So currently under contract for the Panthers at OL positions:

1. Ryan Kalil- 32 years old, 1 year remaining

2. Matt Kalil- 28 years old, 3 years remaining

3. Daryl Williams- 25 years old, 1 year remaining

4. Trai Turner- 24 years old, 4 years remaining

5. Taylor Moton- 23 years old, 3 years remaining

6. Greg Van Roten- 28 years old, 2 years remaining

7. Tyler Larsen- 26 years old, 1 year remaining

8. Jeremiah Sirles- 26 years old, 1 year remaining

9. Zack Banner-24 years old, 3 years remaining

10. Amini Silatolu- 29 years old, 1 year remaining

If you look at length of contract and most recently signed, it would point to the Panthers thinking Matt Kalil, Trai Turner, Zack Banner, Taylor Moton and Greg Van Roten are in the long term plans. But Ryan Kalil, Larsen, Amini, and Sirles may just be around another season as depth. And then there's Daryl Williams who will need to get paid and deserves it. Will there be money available to pay him enough to stick around?

I have to think a trade or cut is coming because since when do we keep 10 OL on the squad??

I know, they're the kind of guys who think a good O-line never breaks down, pancakes all of the D-liners each play and is immune to injury and fatigue -- not that such a thing has ever existed. They have no concept that the game is designed for the O-line to break down each play (you know -- holding rules, etc) otherwise this sport would be as boring as D-league soccer.

Meh, you can't stop them from believing in unicorns, I guess.
