After dropping 2.75 mill I'd think winning a Superbowl would be the first thing on that individuals agenda.

Let's be honest, If Cam wasn't on this team JR wouldn't be seeing this interest. Having a franchise QB is HUGE.

2.75 bil.  Also I highly doubt most bidders are concerned with our QB more so than our balance sheet and asset list. Granted Cam is helping ticket sales and jersey sales so he can't be completely discounted but a good owner knows players are temporary and personel are replaceable and are more worried about 10/20/30 years down the line.  I like to think of Cam as they cherry on top!

I really don't think they evaluate  billion dollars investments based on the roster.

So they don't think about marketing the players on the roster?! Ok.

That marketing and endorsement dollar is surely on their minds. This team is marketable. Now

Of course they think about it but they do not base their investment on it. I’m going to say some unpopular things but for a buyer they have to know that Luke is one hit from hanging up his cleats and Cam has 2 years on his contract and gets hit maliciously as well. 2.5bil for 2 years of “marketable” players? No. 2.5 bil for sold out PSL seats, strong top 1/3 revenue, top 1/2 market size and growing, paid for stadium, strong local government that is willing to invest.  I could list 25 things higher on the priority list than key players.

Players come and go. Clawson to Cam, Bledsoe to Brady. All you can do is hire great a GM and scouts and coach and pray you get it right moreso than not. You can not invest based off of one or two guys. It’s nice but it can change so fast.

I guess I don’t have enough posts or whatever to start my own topic so I figured I would drop this here.... http://www.espncharlotte.net/gerry-v-show-david-newton-20/

Here near the end he David Newton discusses ownership and says he feels Navarro and Tepper are definitely the top two. Also says he feels like Navarro is the top dog and feels he would be a good owner who would let the Football people do their thing. Says he and JR share mutual friends and are more alike. Newton goes on to mention that Navarro is mostly vetted from what he hears and that owners are talking about these two and whomever Richardson picks he feels will easily get the 24 votes necessary. Last but not least he says he feels like this will be wrapped up in around 1-1.5 weeks. Definitely worth a listen and .... Go Navarro!

Good find.  Thanks.

Yeah. Nobody's spending 2 billion dollars on Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly or any other player on the roster.  Hell, if someone were buying the Patriots, it wouldn't be because of Brady or Gronk or blah blah whomever. That'd be like buying a radio station because there's a song you really like in the top 40 right now.

If you're buying a professional football team, you're expecting to own it for way longer than any of the current players, coaches, staff, etc are going to be around.  You might acknowledge those players when you're talking about the purchase, but factoring those things into your purchase wouldn't exactly be the sign of a genius.

She's using the numbers everyone has stated for months to make this comparison. This isn't an up to the minute reporting of bid status.

According to several people familiar with the auction, Navarro is believed to have offered $2.6 billion...

I'm sure it was all just speculation, though.
