Casserly: Expect quicker passes under Turner

I'm just gonna hope we run more bootlegs.  Please Norv,  more bootlegs.

As far as not having enough speed WR.  Byrd, Samuel, Smith, even Moore would be a speed WR.

As far as offensive line being bad. Y'all need to read articles and do some research to see we've had a top ten offensive line..  Without Kalil.  You don't have a bad line with the Guards we've had who make pro bowls, all pros, second team all American either. Hell Matt Kalil wasn't that bad last year either.

Matt Kalil gave up 35 pressures and 5 sacks this season. In weeks 2, 3 and 7 he gave up 17 pressures and 5 sacks.

So if you exclude the Buffalo, Bears and the first Saints game, you're looking at 18 pressures and 0 sacks. So basically he had 3 horrible games which killed his PFF rating. Outside of that he was solid.

In the playoffs "Speed bump McGee" gave up only 2 pressures. That was the best among all of our lineman except for Trai. Sounds like Saints DE Cam Jordan was salty that Matt was working his ass. In fact, Jordan moved to the right side where he started working RT Daryl Williams because M. Kalil wasn't having it.

Matt Kalil had less penalties and less penalty yards than Nate Solder of the Patriots who many of y'all wanted in free agency. Lane Johnson of the Eagles had 10 penalties - Matt only had 7.

Now that he is fully recovered from the rehab of hip alignment surgery I expect a strong solid 2018 season.

It's weird. I watched a few of his highlights from college over the long weekend and he had no problem with checkdowns and quick passes then, especially the Alabama game. Shoot, in the NFL he's deadly with his WRs running slants (as long as they catch it), which is a short, quick, timed route. IDK man, he has his faults but his first few years show he can make every NFL throw. Last year can't really be used as a measuring stick because of the shoulder surgery. I guess we'll find out in a few months (it feels good to type that).

Im sick of hearing about Cam and his so called accuracy problems. The truth is Cam has had little room for error with the bad receivers routes, play design, and play calling. Also the drop rate and separation. Cam have to nearly throw a perfect pass every time because the window is so tight. I have seen him throw some balls that other great QBs can't. And every game I watch I see QBs over throwing the receivers.

Based on what? the "eye test".

I'm a huge fan of Cam but I try to be objective and I really don't find many articles or stats that back that up.  There are stats out there that factor in drop rate and separation, time to throw and pressure, depth of the throw, all the normal excuses that you tend to hear for Cam , and in most of those scenarios he is below average in accuracy compared to the rest of the league.

I think you can be a fan of Cam and still be objective.  By no means am I suggesting we should get a different QB but trying to convince ourselves that he doesn't have certain weaknesses isn't really doing anyone any favors.

I'm hoping Turner actually helps him to become a better QB.  I've always thought that Shula tried to protect him to a fault.  The play design seemed to be to minimize his weaknesses, at some point he needs to improve those weaknesses.

People who being up the drop aspect have failed to look at the actual numbers. We were 20 of 32 teams in terms if drops last year. 19 teams had more drops. And as glorified as the Falcons recejvers are they averaged 18.56 passes per drop while we were 19.57.

Everyone knows Cam is not the most accurate QB in the league. But his ability to throw combined with his threat as a runner makes him very difficult to defend.

And I think we have all seen how much better Cam plays when he has good protection.

So yes, he has his flaws but he is more than good enough to win Super Bowls with the right people around him and a proper scheme.

Long passes or short, Turner has already gone on record as stating that he wants Cam making faster decisions and not holding onto the ball so long.

We can expect that'll be an emphasis in training camp.

Well before it was throw to number 1, covered, 2 covered, 3 covered scramble or force a throw.

all running to the same spot definitely made it worse.

scheming guys open with infinity better talent now should make it night and day,..

the narrative will be Cam silences critics with quicker decisions,..

but really a real OC and real talent makes all the difference.
