Lol at giving a 2nd or a 3rd for this guy. Oh, he was a top CB prospect before staying in school. I don’t recall him at all. Ronnie Harrison was almost universally a late 1st round pick pre-combine/draft workouts and a far superior prospect to this guy and he went in the 3rd.

This guy is a legit 1st round talent or so it was written.

If we really want him and this could really solidify our defensive backfield a 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be a bad price.

IMO someone will tender an offer.  If he fell through to free agency we would have a great opportunity to sign him since he is from this area.  But, I don't think it is a bad idea to take a chance in the 2nd round.

I guess we'll see if we tender an offer.

So was the previously mentioned Ronnie Harrison up until the combine and deep film study showed he can’t cover.

There are a lot more than 32 players that have “first round ability”.

Yep, that was my point. Zack Banner and Connor McDermott were brought up as first rounders before their last college seasons. They went 4th and 6th and we just cut the 4th rounder. Orlando Brown was a first rounder before the combine. Anyone talked about as a first rounder before any of the bowl games/combines/workouts has to be taken with a grain of salt. Throw in the fact that he didn’t declare only to fail out and declare for a supplemental draft and he’s already got 3rd red flags. Yes, we should do our homework as we have no givens in our secondary but a 2nd or 3rd is crazy. As you said, we could have used the 2019 3rd to easily jump up and get Reid instead of Gaulden. Throwing that 3rd at this guy would be a smack in face.

We didn't want Reid.

La'al Collins went through the entire supplemental draft and got signed by Dallas.  So your have precedence of a highly rated player going through the supplemental draft and ending up a free agent.

I guess it is a crap shoot.  It is probably because most teams don't have an opportunity to study him like they do for players they are targeting in the draft.

It will be interesting to see who bites first.

What are your thoughts on using a supplemental pick on Alexander, but feeding him nonstop Bojangles to fatten him up so we can switch him to TE?

Collins went through the regular draft. He was never part of any supplemental draft.
