Panthers Fan from across the pond

Hey,

Not sure if this is the correct area to post but hey ho, I guess is the way to find out right? Just wanted to give a short introduction. My name's Dan, I'm 27 years old and live in England. I'm a long time Panthers fan, having got into football back in 2005 and the following year, having taken a shine to the Panthers I wrote to the organisation and they responded providing a media guide and player autographs.. as you can imagine, my adoration of the team soon took shape. I actually travelled on my own across to Charlotte back in 2012 to take in a Panthers game against the Broncos. Unfortunately, Peyton did his thing and the result was disappointing but it was incredible to experience a game day, taking in tailgating, splurging on Panthers gear in the Pro Shop and screaming for the black and blue, be it from the 500 level. I'd love to make it back over some day soon, the plan is to hopefully get in another home game and setting up one on the road as well, I'd also love to attend a training camp one day and whilst in attendance, jot down some journalistic notes from an English perspective, perhaps eventually transforming them into a blog. Obviously as I'm sure you know the game of football has made great strides in terms of popularity over here what with the International Series games but unfortunately, I live in a very small area in Southern England and therefore, my thoughts and feelings with regards to the Panthers are for the most part kept under wraps.

It would be an absolute pleasure to discuss the ins and outs of the team with hardened followers from The States.

Thanks for your time and Keep Pounding!

I think the next few weeks will be a bit boring on the main board  but once Campbl opens it’ll get going. People freaking out and going by bat poo crazy if someone drops a pass or misses a tackle like in practice.

Not sure if you’ve ever seen the sky fall (you guys have the metric system so that probably doesn’t happen) but you will see it fall on a daily basis here.

Seriously though,  this is a great place for Panther conversation.  Welcome Home.

Sorry to drag this post up from page two, but welcome to the Huddle! Good to see another one of us on here.

It’s definitely worth coming back again before long, although whenever I’ve looked recently flights to Charlotte or Raleigh-Durham have always been so expensive no matter what time of the year. But match tickets are pretty reasonable and the pre-game experience with the Roaring Riot tailgate is fantastic to experience.

Thanks for the heads up and I get it, that’s understandable having been without football for so long!

I don’t doubt this and thanks so much for the warm welcome, I can’t wait to properly get involved.

I'll offer you a pair of great seats, regardless of cost, if you can snag the Baby Trump balloon and bring it to Charlotte.

No problem man, thanks for the welcome, I really do appreciate it.

I couldn't agree more, sadly that is the case but hey ho, for the Panthers it's more than worth it. Might have to bag a sneak flight via one of Wow Air's wooden planes haha.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
