Tepper Presser Takeaways

1. "What was, was. This is now."

Probably the most important quote from the day. Tepper just bought a used franchise, and he has no interest at all in talking about what the previous owner did with it. It is his now, time to move forward. Any media hoping to get more juicy details into JR's behavior will be disappointed.

2. Practice facility is happening. His most definitive language was used in regards to this. Look for an indoor practice field that can also be used for other functions.  Long overdue. It is silly that the team still has to practice at a hotel ball room when weather is bad. Embarrassing.

3. Tepper is a straight shooter. He did not have to say that he is under contract to keep the statue. He could have simply said it will stay. But, he chose to give all the info. Apparently, all the talk about open communication and transparency is not just lip service.

4. He is a Spiderman fan. This shows good taste in comics. If he would have gone Superman, I would have many concerns.

5. The Charlotte sports media was there in full force today. However, come the last days of training camp there will be 4 or 5 media types out there with me. We deserve better.

6. A team President will be named soon. He said he has two people in mind already. Look for it to be done before camp.

More to the point though, he's not a super polished political type.  He says what he thinks, to the point where he's even willing to mildly call somebody out for asking a dumb question.

He sounds almost unprepared, and I think that's deliberate.  He isn't bringing well crafted remarks.  He's talking directly from his own thoughts.

Reminds me a lot of David Gettleman in this regard. I'm sure Tepper will put his foot in his mouth at some point, but I love everything I've heard so far.

No doubt whatsoever on that. Also no doubt he'll take responsibility and apologize for it when he does.

He's a likeable guy, so he'll probably get lots of "free passes".

Also, not sure how many people caught it, but as they were taking his mic off afterward he said something like "yeah, no one wants to see more of my chest hair" :)

Yeah, he was buttoning his shirt for the photo op and mentioned how he didn't want chest hair in it.

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
