The Wire is the greatest show ever made.

I have seen it like 4 times, but I like GOTs, Sopranos and Breaking Bad a little better.  I think season 3 (at the docks) was painfully slow.  But the show is completely amazing.  Didn't love the Tommy Carcetti character all that much either.

Our bonding moment we just had in the other thread won't save you. Also the docks is season 2 and Frank Sobotka was a fuging hero you filthy peasant. You are dead to me.

Sure, I haven't seen it since early last year.  Haha

Weirdly just restarted it this week, and looking for any clips I can use in class this year.

All things considered, the Wire is the GOAT, with the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and GoT being close but nope. Feel like the Wire almost being a documentary/social commentary gives it the nod for me.

If you disagree I will get triggered af. Change my mind.

I think Fargo, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, The Knick, and Breaking Bad are all better by far. While The Wire had a good, slow burn story, it just dragged on at times. An entire episode about bugging a pay phone? Holy crap. Interestingly, I'm one of the weird ones who liked season 2 more than 3 or 4.

The Wire is probably my favorite, and I don't know what can beat it.    Like the others, I loved Sopranos, love GoT, and loved Breaking Bad and those come real close.   Especially Breaking Bad.    I'd also throw The Shield in the mix too, for those who haven't seen that GET ON IT.      Also, The Americans.   If The Wire came out right now it would be a massive show, it just came out before its time when people weren't expecting greatness from a TV show, minus a couple.

It is quite possible GoT overtakes it for me depending on how they end it though.     I can't count Fargo and Sherlock as those are more kind of mini-series.   If you did you'd have to add True Detective season one, etc.

I've tried to watch the Wire on three separate occasions now.

On the third try, I made it halfway through the third episode of the first season.

In the previous two attempts, I dozed off in the first two episodes.

I just can't get into it all that much. Same with the Sopranos. I think I at least made it through the first season of that, but kept falling asleep in S2.

GoT is probably my #1. Breaking Bad is #2. HBO rival to The Wire and GoT, The Leftovers, is probably #3. Fargo is #4.

I just can't/couldn't get into The Wire. Sorry, bud.

Not everyone will like everything, etc.

Leftovers is such a fantastic show, wife and me loved that.    Criminally underrated but that's another show that is not for everyone.

I loved Deadwood too, if that came out now it would be a mega-hit.    Can't wait for the movie to come out and close up everything.

Throw Brockmire and Happy! on the list if you haven't seen those you're missing out.

I watched first episode of Happy! but I'm debating on watching more as I just don't trust SyFy anymore with how they cancel stuff.    They've had a bad track record but when they axed Dark Matter and then the most mind-boggling cancellation of The Expanse (which everyone who likes sci-fi should watch asap and now it's on Amazon thankfully) I lost faith in them.

Happy! has already been renewed, and while it isn't on the level of the dramas mentioned above, in its own way it's just as good, if not better than some of them.

I was fuging shocked that Syfy put out a show of that quality, Christopher Meloni is fuging amazing in it, and it takes bigger risks at times than GoT. We never got to see Theon's post surgery crotch, but Happy! doesn't shy away from showing that kind of poo.

It's a lot more like candy though, fattening and indulgent, mixing grit with hyper-comic action in a way that hasn't been seen since the Blade trilogy imo.

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
