is something physically wrong with cam newton?

it seems now more than ever, he's underthrowing his receivers.

while this isn't a blatant example, there's been too many examples of the receivers having to turn or stop to catch what should be deep balls.

"too many examples" lol you mean 2 gifs from training camp.

I don't think anything is wrong with his deep ball. I do think there are a lot of moving parts here. Most notably the fact that they are wearing shoulder pads now, and that's definitely different than throwing with pads off. Secondly, that throw was what I consider to be a high point ball. Allow the receiver to grab it at its highest point. I don't think Cam meant to do that, but him also throwing to Benjamin, Funchess, and Olsen so long; mixed with the fact his receivers are a lot faster, mixed with field conditions could create the perfect storm for that to happen. :) Good day

Curtis looked small last year also, similar to CMC. Hopefully he can take the hits over the middle now and occasionally get schemed open deep similar to how Taylor Gabriel was used with Kyle Shannahan .

He has all the playmaking ability and speed to be a yac monster that Cam sorely needs, but he needs to live up to his potential first.

Jeez last year he practiced with Funchess and Benjamin mostly,.... Samuel was CMac light,... and Byrd was an unknown commodity.

now Samuel looks like a deep guy and there’s Torrey,.. everyone is much faster....

so yeh he held back for years after Steve Smith left except a few times with Ginn.

hes just getting used to using that big arm again.

I'm sure he's not trying to throw his arm out in camp

So you going to blatantly ignore the deep TD passes? Especially the ones to Smith?

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
