this article is from a year ago. But with all the rampant discussion about Cam’s accuracy I feel it is very fitting to bring up. Cam goes for the big play with his big arm and is very successful, one of the most accurate QB’s in the league.

The only reason he has low completion percentage is because he lacks underneath threats to inflate his number like other QB’s his whole career save last year and he was injured most of last year.

ANYWAYS read the article for more information.

This is precisely why I'm so excited for the upcoming season.  For the first time in half a decade, we have a new OC......an OC that will actually make necessary in game adjustments and get the ball out of Cam's hands faster overall.  I'd be surprised if his completion % doesn't go up.

You know what else attributes? Drops. We have to have the most drops in the league in the last 8 years.

Panthers have done a terrible job of surrounding Cam with talent. Put Rodgers or Brady on this team with the f’d up o-lines and below average receivers and they get killed

Tell me before anyone knew anything about Amendola or Julian Edelman, or any of the guys Brady has played with at their respective positions. Who were they? Where did they come from? And were they superstar talent before?

I just think the whole Brady in our offense argument is weak. Brady gets the ball out fast, so a terrible o line don't matter to him. It's a 3 step drop and go usually, plus Brady knows when to take what the defense is giving him idc if it's Joe blow the fat FB,  hell he will still throw a pass to him.

My whole thing with Cam is he does go for the big play often when there is something simple underneath instead. Sometimes he tends to outright rifle a 7 yard slant into a receivers chest leading to a Brett Favre like interception. Cam tends to hang onto the ball for a bit too long although to be fair sometimes it was Shula's fault for longer routes. I've watched games and I hate to be the "armchair" QB but there's someone running in the flats open and he throws it 80 yards down the field. Now I know you can't see everyone on every play but you have to just know your guy is there and get it to him for the easy completion sometimes and let him make a play.

It'd help if he had some finesse instead of drilling people that are 10 yards or less away from him, the majority of balls dropped that weren't drilled in there were from Ginn. Hopefully this year is better with a Norv approach, I feel like it will be

Can you get a source for that? I could believe it but there are other teams who have had a lot of drops and while I’m damn sure we’re in the top 5-10, not so sure about most.

 points to ponder:

1-shula factor (you already see this one)

2-the reads in an air coryell offense

a lot of the complaints about cam weren't made during his first two seasons.

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
