  1. 1. Top 5 run game in 2018?

One notable take away from preseason so far is the run game that doesn’t rely on QB1. Most analysts still argues that in order for CAM to be successfull this season he is gonna have to run the read option to compensate for his “accuracy issues” but so far the preseason has shown that CAM can be Brady like by taking what defense gives him. His legs will be the icing on the cake for the offense as added dimension.

I believe the momentum from preseason in the  run game and defense is gonna carryover into the regular season for a 4-0 start!

RB Corp:  CMC, CAP & CJ

Prediction: Panthers will have one RB with 1,000 yds rushing, one with 1,000 yds receiving & one with 400yds each!

might be easy to do. the panthers were 4th in rushing last season.

That was with Cam being the leading rusher. I believe the RB corps numbers alone will put this team in top 5. Cam will still get at least  300-400 yds with his scrambling ability.

i believe with the running backs being the focal point, it opens up more opportunities for even bigger scrambling plays from cam newton.

his number of plays may decrease, but the size of those plays may not. 300-400 yards, imo, is too conservative.

I actually doubt we are top 5 in rushing unless we run a ton in the fourth quarter to salt away big leads. Of course if you go by yards gained it could happen if our runners consistently break long runs. But I don't think we will be top 5 in the number of running plays we call. Norv will use his running game to set up the passing game and use screens and dumpoff to the running backs a lot.

If you look at the 3 preseason games so far the drives have been time consuming with balance on pass & run. The added dimension of RB screen/dumpoff  is gonna help lead to extra possesion for the offense, & if you pair this along with the deep threat back in the WR group, this will lead to more explosive run plays. I doubt panthers go away from the run game near the redzone & 4th qtr close outs.

We aren't going to stop running as long as teams give us 5 yards a carry like last night but when teams gameplan against us what will they try and take away? The run game or the passing game? Stop making so much of preseason games when teams aren't game planning and we run vanilla plays. At this point we are still installing the offense. Bring this up again week 5 and then we can have a real discussion.

This is very true. The defense has pretty much expected it and made it one of their top focuses for years. If they can’t commit that much focus to him running, they are gonna leave some space.

And the the long drives really keep our defense fresh.  The 1st team defense was flying all over last night.  If it wasn’t for Washington having guys play 10 yards off on 3rd and 3 they would have looked even better

One thing notable during the past two games is that about half cmc touches came with qb behind center Much more than 2017 I think. Maybe Norv influence? It will also mean fewer cam runs.
