Analyzing the Game

I was jealous watching Tampa Bay against NO and how aggressive they were. Even when they were up on the Saints heavily they stayed aggressive on offense—

they were sending passes downtown all over the place to Evans and Jackson,.

i hope we get there.

I've watched Norv Turner run offenses for a lot of years. "Explosive" and "aggressive" aren't necessarily the first words that come to mind. "Efficient" and "effective" are probably better descriptors, although with it being a Coryell obviously he's going to take some shots downfield.

Now, it's worth noting that those are the same terms most people would use to describe the Patriots offense, so that really shouldn't be looked at as a negative.

It was interesting to me that Ron in his press conference intimated it was Cam's decision to take the FG at the end of the half.

Only thing that would make any sense at all from Cam in that situation would be "fug this OL they almost got us sacked to end the half". I'm sure he has 0 confidence in our OL.

Nice analysis. I believe both Greg and Daryl’s injuries are due to early season contact. I would not be shocked if both are back in three to four weeks. Daryl had a leg brace, so I have a better feeling than Greg. I can’t remember if Greg had screws put in his foot, if so his injury could be a career ender.

yea he has screws in his foot...i had the same surgery. he will always have issues with that injury area

The Patriots are aggressive and effective,..

Norv seems effective so far but definitely not aggressive.

thats probably more of a product of needing everyone to buy in, gel together, and get an identity.

Rivera has an unfortunate tendency to defer responsibility for things in his press conferences.

Unrelated: Saw it reported that Rivera awarded the game ball to David Tepper.

They run different, but similar systems. Patriots run an E-P, which is like a Coryell in a lot of ways but doesn't necessarily focus on downfield shots quite as much.

We definitely are not doing downfield shots right now.

our downfield shots are Cams 29 yard runs ha.

Right that's why it doesn't make sense to me and honestly another thing I really dislike about Ron....he always does that poo. He does defer.....Most great coaches own it even if it wasn't them....

I’m kind of concerned about the O line. I know it’s early, but I hope it gets better

I also would like to see the power runs go strictly to CJ. or anyone but CMC. You don’t off-road a Ferrari. Don’t get cute. No power runs to CMC.

Our defense I thought was outstanding minus Munnerlyn. I like Donte’s aggression. Matt Ryan is gonna try and dink and dunk his way downfield next week. We need to rough him up early. I think we won because of our defense

Another common sense comment. The go routes and similar routes probably should fo to the speedsters.

Cowboys defense was legit, so I’m not gonna bag on the offense that much. Hope Olsen is ok
