he was acquired to be a leader for that unit, and also be a deep threat.

But let's just ignore that fact, because it doesn't support the masses opinions.

What "leadership" course is he teaching?

How To Drop Passes 101?

And, I continue to point this out, Jarius Wright is a veteran and ALSO a competent WR.  So why in the world is he not qualified to be the "leader"?

Newton definitely could have thrown it better on the interception. Mind you, that doesn't mean he's "to blame" for it. Anderson still could have caught it.

Newton had a good game overall though, especially considering the shot he took early. Said it elsewhere, receiving corps didn't do him any favors. O Line was probably better than I expected.

it is legitimate to question why Anderson was in that position in the first place. That's not his forte. if you're going to throw it out of the backfield, you want McCaffrey on the other end of that, not Anderson.

After the play, it was reported that McCaffrey had been on the sideline telling the coaches that he was "good to go". Apparently they thought he was hurt and kept him out as a precaution. That turned out to be a mistake..

Now Mr. Scot, you know better than to say that Cam can do anything better.

Hell, I think the first post I've ever made criticizing Cam was from the game, and even after the initial reaction I went back and double checked because I knew that there would be some folks just looking to further whatever narrative it is that they have. I saw that CJ still had more than enough of a shot at it before editing the OP to call out CJ as well. Still had to deal with knights in shining armour because for the first time in Cam's entire NFL career I implied that he wasn't perfect.

It's not worth trying to reason. They'll just look to slander you and assign blame to Vernon Butler or Shaq Thompson somehow before bitching about media coverage or something equally inane.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You sound like you got your feelings hurt.

You need a hug?  Everything's gonna be OK, little buddy... chin up!

I'm not opposed to any receiver taking the starting spot. Gotta earn it.

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
    • Also, do you think it a bit odd that the media has ignored it? Maybe they haven’t. But I am not aware of it being written or talked about.
