Totally agree. There were several of us talking about McCaffrey and a few of us were even bold enough to say we preferred CMC over Fournette not only because of the cost to trade up but the increased versatility of McCaffrey in the run and pass game. Now everyone knows why we said it.

I preferred McCaffrey because I thought that choosing Fournette would just reinforce the Rivera/Shula bad habits.

Turns out the "evolution" was total crap and all picking McCaffrey did was reinforce the Rivera/Shula bad habits anyway.

But this year?  Oh, wee main, THIS YEAR we're seeing the blooming of CMC under a competetent offensive mind.

(Plus, having watched Fournette for years in the SEC, I knew that man was injury prone.)

I remember having to constantly defend us taking CMC at #8 last year..... no need to defend it now.

you and me both brother.

I want to see how he holds up over a season.  I'd hate to see what he looks like after 400 carries between the tackles.  Yet he does seem to know how to turn a hit into a glancing blow so hopefully he'll hold up through December/January.

Plus it is funny that wherever Gettleman goes it seems the Oline sucks.

Good thing for them Gettleman knows how to draft (or sign as UDFA's or FA's) offensive linemen.

See: Trai Turner, Daryl Williams, Taylor Moton, Andrew Norwell (UDFA), Michael Oher (FA), Tyler Larsen (FA), Greg Van Roten (FA) (since the signing happened within a week of Gettleman's firing, there is little doubt that the ground-work for that signing was done while Gettleman was still the GM)... and then also, to be fair, Gettleman also gets the discredit for the Matt Kalil signing.

I would think in five years he would hit on some of his picks. Truth is other than Oher and Williams who did we have as tackles? It is fine to pick guards but ignoring the tackle position and left tackle in particular was almost criminal.

Plus like bringing in Worley and Bradberry as rookies. Sure they will develop but unless you have competent veterans to play right away while you groom the rookies you suck in the present hoping for the future. It doesn't have to be either or, it can be both. That was a big issue for Gettleman. He brought in UDFAs and mid round draft picks who needed development and then didn't get vets to stem the tide until they were ready.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
