The elephant in the room. Why is Torrey Smith still starting?

I can no longer defend the Moore isn't a good practice player anymore. What he showed me today in his limited playing time tells me all I need to know about who should be playing more on the field.

If Moore or Samuel isn't starting next week, I think it's time we question if Ron has any idea how to adjust on offense. No disrespect to Torrey great leader and veteran, but he is not providing anything on the field worth him taking snaps away from our young studs Moore and Samuel.

We need to make it known that Moore and Samuel should be getting more snaps than Torrey Smith.

Who's with me?

Ron delegates offensive decisions to the coordinator. He focuses on defense. Norv is the one choosing to let Moore marinate until he is ready.

Smith started yesterday and still had a ton of snaps

Nope, we started two TEs. Look at the official gamebook or  NFL.com official stats.

My point is that the starter is irrelevant but everyone harps on that term. Snap count percentage  is what should be talked about. His should be reduced and it is reducing. Samuel getting back in and to speed and the development of Moore coupled with the eventual healthy return of Olsen should drive that even more.

They said early that they liked him on the field because as a veteran he was not limited in what he can run route wise and it must be respected. I imagine that will change as the youth gets more up to speed.

Nobody is "respecting" anything Smith is running.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
