Why isn't Taylor Moton playing left tackle?

When some Texans fans were asked about Clark when we first signed him the consensus among them was that he is much better on the left side than the right. Also, Moton has pretty much never played on the left side spending his entire college career on the right side and I believe he has even said he is much more comfortable on the right.

So Clark is better on the left and Moton prefers the right. I think the answer should be pretty simple. It is what makes our OL the best it can be this season. Now if we were out of contention or something and wanted to groom Moton to be the eventual LT of the future then this question might be more pertinent, but for now we need to put our players in the places that make our team the best they can be right now.

Clark has been teetering on the precipice of disaster for a few weeks now but he still holds it together and Cam isn't getting sacked. Honestly I've never seen an OT getting tossed and ragdolled the way he has but still hold his block. Cam has been hit the 3rd least so far in the NFL at 19 times and the league leader is at like 17. The OL is holding up really well. It ain't broke.

What I watched this past Sunday was "broke".

Come on, Hub. You can't seriously defend keeping Clark at LT over Moton?

Moton did fantastic at LT in preseason. Meanwhile, Clark is giving up pressure on the left, including a play that went a long way toward costing us a win this past weekend.

I know you want to be optimistic but this just doesn't make any sense.

Our line, at this point in time, is best where it is. Clark is a LT, although we all wish he were better at it. Moton is a RT, who is playing really well.

Now...if you can find me a RT who can play better than Clark. Then maybe you have something. Unfortunately, we have no RT on this team worth even having this conversation.

You have been doing this a lot lately. What Martin Short calls "The Hollywood Compliment". You say something nice, but finish it off with something negative. Your new favorite phrase lately is "But I don't see it".

Find us a RT, and you can move Moton to LT. Until then. We are who we are.

So because a guy would be equally bad on the other side, it justifies leaving him in an even more important spot?

Yeah doesn’t make a lot of sense. If we’re just throwing sh!t at the wall over at LT (Clark, Kalil, whoever) we might as well stick Moton there and protect Cam’s blindside and fling poo over at RT

Yeah, let's remove a LT that is at least keeping Cam from being killed. Without a lot of penalties I might add. Just so we can have Moton playing LT.

Who is going to play RT? Because Clark is ever worse over there.

Cam got sacked 1 time on Sunday. The protection was fine. Expecting a clean pocket every single play is beyond unrealistic. Pressure happens. It will always happen.

Cam technically didn't get sacked on the 2nd down play of the final series.

That doesn't exactly make the result acceptable.

No.

The *only* thing that makes any sense is that he would in fact be significantly *worse* at RT.  That's your justification.  We would be worse off flipping the two tackles.  We are as un-broken as we can possibly be given that so many players got banged up.

You have two tackles, and one is better than the other, yet you put the worse one in the more important position on the left?

What kind of logic is that?

That's a major reach.

You are not paying attention. Clark is worse at RT. WORSE. That would make our line WORSE. Some of us are not willing to throw in the towel just yet.

Let Moton go to LT when Daryl returns. Until then. We are what we are.
