the Saints traded their 2019 third round pick for Bridgewater and they could just decide to forget next year's draft by giving up everything they have left plus 2020 picks

Everyone is quick to look at the saints after he mentioned he'd like to play there.

One problem

Cap Space.

I know they always are tight on space and pull something out of their azz .   But theyd have to make some Major moves.  They are already going ti have a hard time making room to sign Teddy B this offseason that they just traded for

They only have 1.9mil of open cap space.

He is making 11mil

He's only a 6.5 cap hit this season tho. Loomis can make it work cap wise the issue would be proper compensation to make the cardinals bite

Wilks is their coach, maybe he would have his eye on one of our DBs he's familiar with. super longshot though. would do wonders for our ailing secondary.

If he traded Patrick Peterson for someone like Corn Elder he'd probably be fired tomorrow.

You cant just look at this year too.

Peterson is due 11 mil next year.

Saints only have a little over 14 mil in open cap space for next year and still have guys like Ingram, Benjamin Watson, and Teddy Bridgewater (who they just traded for and will takeup 10mil at the very minimum) hitting the open market

They are already squeezed so tight in cap space, its going to be dam near magic to maneuver the space for him.

this I keep wondering how the Saints seemingly have infinite cap space

They get Peterson and resign Teddy B

1. Theyll already be atLeast 7 mil Over the cap for next year.

2.  Will have to go full time Kamara as they lose Ingram unable to resign

3. Lose their starting TE to FA

4. Have Zero draft picks rounds 1-3 (will take minimum of a 2nd rounder to get Peterson)

And Still have to do all sorts of restructuring to get the 7 mil over to under the cap. And just eat the other holes with late round picks or someone already on the roster

Sounds for nice and easy for ESPN and put Peterson to a contender in their heads without looking at the #s

We have just as good a chance of trading for Clowney, resigning everyone we currently have hitting FA, and sign a Landon Collins as they pull this off

Yeah but any team that wants him will do what's necessary to make it work. Saints, Pats, and Eagles have contacted them and all know they would have to make it work and in the pats case they will do it for one and cut bait the next if necessary.

Ingram and Watson seem expendable if they want any significant amount. It'll be hard for the saints but only as far as compensation is concerned. They're swinging for the fences in these last years with Brees.

I don't see it happening and honestly the cardinals have no reason to move him this year. If they're still bad next year then it makes complete sense to move him when that time comes.

I want Joe Thomas in his prime.

I suspect neither of us is getting his wish.

such a defeatist attitude. we have like 40 million in cap space, a bounty of delicious draft picks, and a dramatic need in our secondary. there's no reason not to do this besides timidity.
