Speculation: Cam Is Playing With A Severe Shoulder Injury Again

Not he’s not, this is just his annual horrendous game. It was bound to happen.

Last year week 17 vs Atlanta he looked horrible then the following week vs NO he was throwing missles all over the field. Every QB has games like this

You know you wont find a bigger Cam supporter than me here, and those last 3 plays showed us exactly what is going on.

When people speculated our deep passing game was struggling since '16, i wrote it off as being due to lack of opportunities, but after watching this season, it's clear it isn't that...  it's by design.  Cam's max throw with zip now is about 30 yards.  He can't even heave it beyond that in his current state, and i suspect it's been that way since he returned from surgery, we just didn't notice it until there was a big enough sample size demonstrating it.

That last 3 plays he tried to push it downfield and struggled to get it 30 yards the first two plays, with the second play having him actually load up, set his feet, and launch it, and he still only got it 25-30 yards.  They then subbed him out to let Heineke chuck the last pass and he outthrew Cam by 20 yards.  I feel so bad for Cam...  in such a macho sport, where as the QB you are the alpha, and throwing it deep is a measure of your alphaness...and we had to sub him out for a guy half his size to out throw him by 20 yards because his shoulder is shredded.  And now, if it wasn't clear before, teams know to take away everything underneath and make us throw it over the top, bc we can't.

I can only hope he can get back to what he was before '16 after this coming procedure.  It's why i will always fuging hate Ron, and i don't want to hear anyone vouch for his dumbass.  Cam destroyed his shoulder and altered his career playing for a fuging dumbass who throws him under the bus every chance he gets in a meaningless season.  He should've taken the time Luck did after his surgery and came back 100% the first time, but if he had, Ron would've prolly went 0-16.

I didn't want to say it, but wasn't his worst game of 2015 the week Chosen was born (our only loss).  Sometimes home-life puts us off our game at work.

I think this has been the case for each child. I wish Cam luck, he is going to need it.

And leaves him, Luke, and CMC in the game when they are getting slaughtered due to his(Riveras) own incompetence....he's a real poo bag.

How can we go that long without disclosing his injury if he's obviously playing through pain?

I get why people would think this. But wouldn't the league punish us for this? The NFL already has it out for the Panthers.

If we act like it was a result of wear and tear rather than an acute injury, how could they say any different?  I also think Cam wants to continue to compete and not sit and Ron knows he has no chance of winning without Cam, so he continues to play him.

Why did we keep having him sling it up and down the field if we know his shoulder is deteriorating? Our run game was working.

Either the staff is trying to send a message to Cam, or he's trying to send a message. Right now the team looks unfocused and erratic. Something is going on behind the scenes.

this should be copy, pasted, laminated, and glued all over the forums for the people who are STILL in denial.

i've never been a big cam newton fan, but i really do feel for him. it's sad to watch him struggle like this.

Man, idk...  but that's the second time this season Cam has willingly subbed himself out instead of throwing a hail mary.  I think that says all we need to know about how he feels about his arm.  This just sucks...

I honestly don't think Ron cares about Cam's longevity, and again, Cam, as a competitor wants to be out there, hurt or not.  I just want him to get healthy because this season is over.

I'm one of the biggest Cam homers here. But at this point he is playing for a fanbase that simply does not value him or want him. Even Ron Rivera has sounded like a generic huddle shitposter at times. If we aren't going to bring in a new head coach with innovative offensive ideas, we are wasting what is left of Cam's career. It's hard to watch. I don't want that for him if we aren't serious about evolving as a franchise. Especially reading the gameday threads here about him. There's a handful of fans here that won't try to drag him through the mud after every throw. It's been almost 10 years man. Enough is enough.

I still believe more of our fanbase supports Cam than is against him,but i agree, he is subject to far too much undue criticism that clearly has nothing to do with football.

I have no qualms in admitting i'm a Cam stan lol, and in knowing this season is a dead end, i just prefer we fire Ron tomorrow, Cam goes on IR and has surgery and starts rehab ASAP, and hopefully Tepper's guys take care of him.  Idgaf what Cam's detractors say, I want us to win a Superbowl and Cam deserves to be the QB that takes us there, and this season is over...  let's prepare for the future.  Hell, if Cam needs a year and a half to recover, then do it...  he'll have enough prime left to make some more runs after he returns, and hopefully, with a better, more innovative and gutsy coaching staff in place.
