Bill Voth: Sitting Cam Newton won't be an easy call, but it'd be the right one

The feeling I got from Ron's presser, was he wasn't interested in sitting Newton.. he's still talking about having a sliver chance to make the playoffs....

I'd say his honest and decisive answer to that question in the presser was an emphatic "NO".

The fact they are now actually considering this is 'Exhibit 38' of how Rivera has lost this team.

Not a fan of huge generalizations.  Would love to hear specifics of how we are "still" a hillbilly organization.  And I am assuming that is a negative connotation.

It's all good brother. Call it self depreciation. My Dad's family is from Wilkes County. And yes they were bootleggers.

Well I have a little piece of property up by Little Horse Creek and love the trails around Kerr Scott lake so I take the hillbilly calling personal!  ha!  Plus had a stupid raiders fan that is now a former friend send me this screenshot from the game yesterday and asked if "all Panther fans are hillbilly's"???

Which seemed to me a perfect time to send him one of my favorite youtube videos which in turn brought up some fond memories!

Dominate the Foe!

This is on Hurney and on Rivera if he  has a say in building the roster.  If you don’t even trust your backup QB to play when your starter is obviously hurt and can’t even make basic throws then why is he even on your roster?   To me , a lot of this falls on who is responsible for the roster.

i pie'd you but a coach has to be able to make really tough decisions.  if ron was thinking about the team's future and cams future and his future cam would have sat games ago.  ron is coaching for his job, and he's put it above everything.  that's not a leader.  hurney is a softy.  no way he wants cam to be playing.

I agree.  Rivera is going with who he thinks gives him the best chance or for whatever reason he’s playing Cam.   I don’t think you’re being disagreeable.  It’s going to be an interesting off season for sure

One would think so right?  Apparently it takes a lot of discussion and deliberation to come up with the best move going forward.

I feel like I'm watching a Dumb and Dumber scene play out.

I've said it repeatedly since Tampa...  when Cam subbed himself out for the hailmary attempt after loading up twice to barely get it 30 yards downfield, I felt he shouldn't have played again this year...  and as i predicted that day, once we were so blatant and caught with no excuse (like the "wanted to save him for the 2nd half"), I knew teams were gonna sit underneath everything and compress the field, daring us to throw over the top bc they knew we couldn't...  and they have.  I noticed it with the Browns, but I hadn't heard Gregg Williams quote until this thread...  and wanted to post it last night, but just don't care enough anymore, but during the game last night, there were multiple 3rd and long situations where the Saints literally had 10 guys in the box.

I hope someone around Cam intervenes and convinces him that it's in his best interest to sit the last 2 weeks and get the surgery asap.  I'm convinced with modern medicine his shoulder can be fixed, but he's got to commit to it.
