Don't know anything about any of that.

I do know that Joe Douglas, the guy Kyle Bailey mentioned as a possible GM option, would be a home run choice.

Yes Joe Douglas would be a great hire. He's worked his way up from an unpaid internship under Ozzie in Baltimore.

Only issue if the Eagles can hold onto him like they did last season.

my worst fear is that tepper is unwilling to clean house because he doesn't want to look reactionary and over involved but we're not talking about a 1st year coach here. really hope he doesn't believe giving rivera another year makes himself look more mature because it won't.

I may cry.

If Tep doesn't clean house, I'm not sure that I'm OK with him buying the team.

This place is in need of a good scrub down.

if the ultimate answer is that he replaces Hurney with a guy like Omar Khan or Joe Douglas and lets them make the decision on Ron Rivera, I can live with that.

With what little information we do have, it's understandable to be concerned. We've heard that the shoulder is neither improving nor declining, we've watched it affect Cam's passing, and we've seen that defenders noticed it as well.

Cam is an insane talent, but if his body is starting to break down from the wear and tear of what has been demanded of him by the coaching staff over the years then there needs to be evaluation on a potential replacement. The team is in a difficult position because with the rumours floating around regarding Cam's shoulder, we might not have clear direction come draft day. Cam has I think 3 seasons remaining on his current contract, maybe 4? It's designed so that if the team were to part ways, they could do it now (which I don't think we're at that point yet, at least I hope not). Do you go with a guy like Dwayne Haskins (who I see going back for one more year, but that kid is impressive and could go in the 1st round if he elects to leave now) by spending an early round pick, or do you hope to get a developmental guy with a mid round pick?

Or do you hold off and put it all on Newton/Heinicke knowing that if things don't work out the shoulder, your season is essentially forfeit as are the following seasons until you're able to bring stability back to the position? If things work out, then you still have your superstar QB and you didn't create potential drama with having a guy waiting on deck to take the keys.

I do not envy the front office at the moment.

Not the way I would like to see it go down, but I could understand it.  If both are kept...well, I just will try not to think about it now.

which again is how you would address any other injury. there's a push to to ascribe some sort of uniqueness to this situation that just isn't there. the only thing unique about is how disposable this organization has viewed cam since he was drafted. the reason "the carolina panthers are worried about the health of their quarterback" is such a striking headline is because to this point they haven't seemed to give a poo.

Yep, you said it yourself a bit earlier in the thread.  Ron "I would have taken the shot too" Rivera now has to concede to overwhelming evidence that his QB isn't right.  All that does for me is bring into the light all the times he should have been more cautious with his health and physical well-being, only to continually sweep it under the rug to keep his own ass comfortable.

It's not a hard choice...IMO.

Honestly, we should have shut down Cam earlier, but at least we did with 2 to go.  We can at least try to evaluate Taylor now.  He gets all the practice reps, and all the game time.  That's a good thing at this point.

Unfortunately, we have Marty at the helm...but hopefully that will change in a couple weeks.  Either way, he needs to be scouting later round QB's HARD right now, and likely needs to plan on picking one in the draft (assuming TH doesn't look the part).  We also don't know how the free agent market may shake down...but we will likely need to bring in an upper shelf backup for Cam, and will likely be carrying 3 QB's next season depending on Cam's shoulder and it's response.

Chase Daniel may be one to look at in the offseason, and Teddy, if NO moves on.

We have 2 full years to get Cam healthy, and evaluate him long term...really 3 if we break out the tag.

why wouldn't he be willing?

My guess is Cam and Ryan V. decided to try to rehab the shoulder last time to see if they could avoid surgery?  Seemed to be working well until he had to start throwing hard later on and the pain came back....then he/they decided to have the surgery, and tried to be back by training camp.

I remember rumblings back then that many thought he should have gone ahead with the surgery and give it more time heal before training camp.

Not sure if that was the trainers call, Cam's, the doctors, or all, but that's the only thing I can figure as to why fiz would post that?

why are people giving mr scot poo?

a good gm considers the possibility and plans accordingly. only a fatally stupid idiot actually calls it happening and suggests preemptive action.

some fatally stupid posters are doing that but mr scot isn't one of them

He has made it a point to question Cam's commitment to football on more than one occasion.

It’s the same people as always race baiting something that has zero to do with race. poo gets old yet no leadership around here fixes it

    • They traded away their 1st next year also to get James Pearce Jr. Really hope this blows up in the Falcons face. I don't care how it happens, I just want to win the division this year. Zero sympathy for other team's issues. And our pass rush looks like it needs all the help it can get.
    • I would have released him this season, tbh and worked with Christensen out there.
    • 10/10. We're due for some good luck, and I think this team is much better than what we've had the last 2 seasons. Defensive injuries could derail us b/c our depth there is still questionable. Still worried about the pass rush getting pressure without blitzing. Pleasantly surprised by the secondary and run defense.  Dan Morgan has done a lot to resurrect this roster from the deplorable position Fitterer left it in by showing some scouting chops with hitting on these guys drafted in the later rounds or UDFAs. Lathan Ransom & Corey Thornton both look like they fit this scheme and the NFL isn't too big for them.  I'm as excited for the rookie trifecta of T-Mac, Scourton, and Princely as I can remember. On paper, this offense is the most talented since 2021, maybe 2017, and maybe 2015. None of that means this team will produce any better, but this team has offensive talent & depth like we have rarely had in team history. If you don't believe me, go Google it. We've had some awful offensive collections overall in many years, to varying degrees mitigated by superstar talents like Steve Smith, Christian Mccaffrey, or Cam Newton.  I honestly think the collective offensive talent in 2025 may be better, but Cam was so otherworldly in 2015 & 2017 that he covered any flaws. Seriously, though, Cam doesnt get enough love for 2017. I think that may have been his best season. In general, Cam doesn't get enough respect IMHO. Both in college and in the NFL, Cam took teams that without him would have had no chance and won. True definition of a guy who elevated his team. To be clear, I am in no way am I saying this team will be better than 2017 or 2015. My point is that the offensive talent is there on offense if Bryce can unlock it.  I've been a Bryce supporter, but there are no excuses not to perform with this group. This isn't the disaster we gave him in 2023 or a new scheme like in 2024 where I think he hadn't mentally removed from his rookie season to start. I dont know how you couldnt be excited about that. And we still compete in a division that isn't insurmountable. I got got in 2023 like most of us in buying into the team propaganda, but in general, I think I'm pretty realistic about the team. I knew in my heart we would be bad last year. I wasnt expecting the defense to be that bad or Bryce to start off that poorly, but I had no expectations whatsoever for making the playoffs. And I genuinely think we will be competitive all year this season. I think we win 8-9 games and compete for the division. I think the ceiling is 11 wins, and the floor is 7. The good news is after next week, we will all be proven right or proven wrong. Keep Pounding!
