Dreams

So I had a weird dream last night and it kinda creeped me out a bit.

We haven't had a decent topic in The Lounge in a while tbqh, so I thought maybe I'd get input here.

Some backstory: My mom's side of the family is your typical, patriarch-centered family. My grandma passed away right before I was born in 1980, but my mom has three sisters and they have all carried on the tradition of getting together at my grandpa's or my aunt's house to visit a few hours every Sunday afternoon. Grandpa is still kicking it at 102. My wife, kids, and I rarely attend the Sunday afternoon get togethers nowadays except for holidays or the occasional random desire to do so. Also of note, I had an uncle that passed away around 10 months ago.

So, my dream last night. We were visiting at my grandpa's house on a Sunday afternoon. We're sitting there and a old/unknown car pulls up and my deceased uncle gets out. He walks over, pulls up a chair and sits down. Apparently, though, I'm the only one that can see the car and him. I'm talking to him, and everyone is looking at me like I'm crazy, and I realize nobody else can see him. I have my aunt give me some questions that only he'll know the answer to, and I ask him. When I give them the answers everyone knows I am telling the truth. They start freaking out and crying and all that. I am telling them how he looks good, what he's saying, describing his clothing, etc.

Then, another car pulls up. And my uncle gets out of that car too. He walks up, pulls up a chair, and takes a seat also. Now there are two copies of my uncle sitting there with us. I report this to my family members, and we go through a similar process of questions, descriptions, etc. The two uncles don't really acknowledge each other's presence.

Then, I notice a car I didn't see before. It is a really strange looking all black car pulled up in the distance. A man dressed in an all black suit with an almost Amish style black hat approaches us all. Like the two uncles before, apparently only I can see this guy. He has long red hair, some of which is dread-locked, and a long red beard.

As the man walks up, he apologizes and tells me that this "wasn't supposed to happen." I ask him what he meant, and he shakes his head with a sad look, like he can't really explain what is going on.

But then he says: "Someone here is going to die at 1 AM tonight."

...and then boom, I am awake.

It was legit creepy. I mentioned it to my wife as I was getting ready for work.

For this thread, give me your dream interpretations or share your own weird/creepy dreams.

I sometimes have dreams revolving around deceased family members like my mom or GPa. I can’t remember them vividly but I do notice my kids are sometimes in those dreams so not sure if it’s related to them not having a memorable connection to the dead relatives or something else.

When end you were asleep do you have background noise (eg radio or tv ).  I have noticed that if I’m in a dream like state and if I have something on in the background it gets jumbled up with the dream.  When this happens it can be very fugged up cause I am fond of falling asleep watching horror movies....  That said the one am death may have (just an uneducated guess) been a blend of the evening news or other program.

Dreams fascinate me.

I had one that had like three levels of consciousness.

I was having a dream that an all black figure had me pinned to the bed at night, I woke up screaming only i did not actually wake up.  I woke up into the second level of the dream in which case the figure was still there, I screamed again tried to get up but couldn't then I actually woke up to my girlfriend telling me I was whispering her name in my sleep with a scared tone.  So I woke up from a nightmare into what I thought was reality only for me to actually still be sleeping.  Was so trippy I got up and walked around upstairs looking for that figure.  Hope any of that made sense.

I have this recurring dream where I'm enrolled in some class and it's not going well.  In addition to the material being irrelevant to me I'm in my 30s so I'm officially the weird old guy among a bunch of people in their early 20s and I feel very out of place.

At some point in the dream the realization hits me that I've been out of college for almost 8 years and I have a career and I don't have to go back to school if I don't want to.  My attitude changes from being dejected and depressed to "man fug this poo I'm out".  Then the dream just kind of ends.

Oh and I dreamt I poo my pants the other night

i'll occasionally have dreams that appear to take place in the near future (like weeks or months from the present) that do not seem to have any significance or interesting events happening. what's weird is i can vaguely remember the dream but not the specifics once i wake up. even weirder still is on occasion i will get a very strong feeling of deja vu that i've attributed to having "seen" the present moment in my dreams from days/weeks before. i'm sure its more a mixture of confirmation bias or selective memory or something along those lines but it unnerves me a little when it happens.

I have these from time to time.  I always wake up thinking I forgot to go to a class entirely and there is like a few days left in the semester.  Been out of college since 97...so weird.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
