Some notes from my source involving the NFL draft

It would serve us if 3 QBs were taken in the top 15.

If no CB goes in top 10, could we take Greedy and move Jackson to nickel?  Lotta teams are playing 3 CBs a lot anyway.

I desperately want better lines but the idea of moving Jackson to nickle and having 3 effective and different options at CB is very interesting and intriguing. I guess with all of the talent in this draft around our pick, is there CB depth down the road or is it something we couldn't duplicate in this draft? I agree we should be playing 3 CBs a hell of a lot more. Dump the Joker attempt  and get on with better matchups.

I really want an elite pass rusher and adderly. Do you think it is possible that he slips into the second at least into trade up range? My idea draft is

1. Elite rusher 2. Starting FS(wich I think the draft is actually pretty loaded with) 3a. A center 3b. A slot corner (I like Kendall Sheffield) 4.a LG and the rest BPA by position.

Prospects he thinks will be potential first round picks that not enough people are talking about:
Jaylon Ferguson, DE, LOUT
Zach Allen, DE, BC
Amani Oruwariye, CB, PENN
N'Keal Harry, WR, ARST
Nasir Adderly, S, DEL
Riley Ridley, WR, GEO

I wish there was a way we could come out of the first 2 rounds of this draft with an elite-level edge rusher (prefer Sweat) and Adderly.

meant to quote these for my post above

Agree but I think we should get a pure nickel and leave donte on the outside , can get alot of value later in the draft with a pure nickel. Without Davis and with shaq moving to rolb (assuming) I would love to play the nickle as a primary package!

Donte has exceeded my expectations on the outside last year but I'm not ready to anoint him a fantastic outside CB, he has a lot more proving to do there. Dont get me wrong, not crapping on the dude but he has plenty to work on and I'm excited about seeing it. Bradbury took on the #1s and Donte had some successes and some failures. I like the idea of three capable CBs that we can matchup accordingly with unique strengths. Donte looked like a guy that would be viscous at the nickle spot or we could just line up the CBs based on matchups, positions be damned. It would be great to assume we will see nickle as more of our base defense but I will believe it when it happens. The talk of going 3-4 makes he very hesitant to think Rivera is getting ahead of the curve and not just playing catch up to past trends.

I'm fine either way. I think Jackson can play inside or out and I'll never complain about versatility. He really surprised me as a tackler last year and that's important at the nickel position. The closer you are to the middle of the D, the more likely you are to be involved in run support.

Being it was donte s rookie year with the worst pass rush we've had in a long time , I really think he shines on the outside in year 2

His being a "big plays both ways" type of corner would concern me some at nickel.

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
    • When we didn't trade him to the Rams or the Bears (I believe the Bears said they would take one of Brown/ Burns/DJ Moore) we should have just signed him and kept him.  We should have traded him to the Rams obviously and we should have kept DJ and traded Burns.  We made all three wrong choices with Burns lol.
