Shaq isn't a bad player.  He was asked to guard slot WR's often the past few years, which was stupid (although he was still better than Munnerlyn).  Shaq taking over for TD's role, will finally put him in a more natural position.  He'll thrive in it too

You don't pay "not bad" LBs $9M. If we're sold on him as a TD replacement, extend him. If we're not, move in. Either way, don't take a $9M cap hit for Shaq Thompson in 2019.

Is this a serious question? Plan B is Taylor Moton the dude that started almost every game at RT last year and performed well. The bigger problem is why Matt Kalil is still on the roster.

Try moton at left and draft or sign a right.

Sad to say, but I don’t think he has had enough playing time...especially in the SLB position...to commit to a decision one way or the other. We either have to go off of his intermittent play as our WLB or the limited 4-game sample size as our SLB, which is where we ideally want to play him. I think this season is truly his litmus test for whether he’s in our long-term plans...it just sucks that it has to come with a $9 million price tag.

It's why I was ready to move on from him. He had his dress rehearsal to replace TD and he just didn't measure  up.

Thank you. I dont understand the ra ra attitude fans of this team have. Cut buns, and dead weight dont blow 20+ mil in potential cap room

I think many in this fanbase have become so accustomed tonwatching this franchise make poor decisions that they can't fathom anything else. It's like they've take to defending them as a copy mechanism. We're spending a combined $14M this season on Shaq Thompson and Torrey Smith and not a dime of it is guaranteed. We could free up every bit of it.

We could also get money fromPoe, speedbump, and searcy. I dont get it.

To ad to my other post, we could use that money on haha or honeybadger, and bring back td for peanuts. Still would have 3 or 4 mil left for a center

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
