Most of the fans in the stands knew fair well that we almost walked out of the Meadowlands as the victors.

Before the game started I got lots of chants of "Panthers suck"...and when I walked out of the stands most people congratulated me on a good game and said they knew we had a great team that was NOT overrated. We easily could have been the winners and for that moment, they loved the crosswinds in the Meadowlands since it did not burn the Giants.

We showed up for our third straight Prime time game, went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the NFL, which just happens to be the defending Champs and lost in overtime. We did so without our run stuffing DT (which proved to be HUGE) and with a reserve RG.

We had no turn overs, gave up ZERO sacks, saw only 1 penalty, ran for 150+, scored 28 in a very hostile environment and are guaranteed a play off position.

For me, the win would have been the icing on the cake. But we know now we can play with and beat anyone. We need to get Kemo back and beat the Saints, if we do that I'll feel very good about the next month or so.

I'm not a silver lining kind of guy. To me, it was a terrible performance, regardless of how close the game was. Giving up 300 yards rushing, even without your best run stopper, is pathetic. Kemo or not, we were getting killed on the outside, as we continued to be fooled by the shotgun run plays. In addition, our secondary continued to be terrible, allowing the Giants to secure a first down pretty much anytime they wanted, by playing Trgovac Style cushions. Every key reception in the game seemed to be to a wide open player. That's a problem.

I'm not going to panic, but I'm certainly not going to celebrate a loss in which the defense played so incredibly bad. I do think that when the playoffs come, our defensive inabilities are going to keep us from making a deep run into the playoffs. Scoring 30 points a game is awesome, but if our offense has a bad game, we're in trouble.

Panthers belong where they are now... primetime. Showed with 2 opportunities that came our way.

I'm still okay after the sad loss yesterday... we could have won and clinched home field through the playoffs, but that is okay. What matters is that we were neck to neck with one of the better teams in the league right now and we played with class. Very confident that we'll have a better outing in the playoffs if we end up playing Giants again.

I don't feel good about our run defense or the coverage schemes, nor do I feel good about going to New Orleans to secure homefield. Atlanta isn't going to lose to the Rams, so we NEED to win this next game.

I do feel good about our offensive performance, though.

I'm feeling better today, and in fact, sort of wonder if the loss will help us. This may just be me trying to make up for the horrid feeling I had last night but if you think about it, with this loss, we have some 'splain' to do! We will go back to work, fix our wrongs, and right the ship. And on the other side of the coin, the Giants are now cocky. Too cocky. That could have been us and we would've been in a world of hurt in the Playoffs with that attitude. Now the Giants have to play at THAT level every game because every team is hunting them down. Us? We're now the hunters. Let's go kill 'em.

I agree with AK. I think that our offense even without smitty doing his usual we kept ourselves in the game. I do think that some of the play calling was a bit conservitive but its over now. The defense was embarrased and i'm sure won't allow that kinda run game happen again to them. I hated to see their runners in the secondary do much but I loved to see that our secondary wasen't shying away with little hits. Our corners were hitting hard. Harris may have taught em a thing or to.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
