I tried to start a thread about this but it wound up in another subsection and I can't figure out how to delete the thread and repost in news and talk.

Do we take a flyer on him in the 3rd if he falls that far?

A 3rd for Rosen and a 3rd on Gary

we'll be looking like the Cardinals in no time

It's also a valid reason not to use a high pick.

Obviously I was operating under the idea he was healthy and wasn’t privy to this new information. However shaq Lawson was drafted in the first round not long ago with the same injury under the same conditions. Not that I would advocate taking such a risk in the first but would easily take him in the second and Rosen trade with the 3rd. Maybe another rusher or Tackle in the first. Problems addressed.

Jeffery’s Simmons isn’t playing at all and will be going in the first..

We'll see. And if he does, it'll be late and it'll be to a team with a rock solid front office who know they can afford to take the gamble on an injured guy who has to sit a year and then hopefully return to form.

Gray put up 26 reps with this shoulder and if it was truly torn, why did the league doctors pass him beforehand?  Sweat and Gary are being targeted by a few teams drafting mid-late first with these questionable leaks.

He easily could have Pulled a Bosa. A guy that Fights trough adversity, I never heard him use his shoulder as an excuse for his production.80EF66BD-613B-48C7-82A6-6C16D6297750.thumb.jpeg.865d6027a7e715c913b04bdfcc049f7b.jpeg

Both Winovich and Bush owe Gary millions for doing all the unpopular hard work, while they had no/favorable matchups to load up on stats. Gary got the attention allowed Winovich and Bush glory. That would not happen if Gary sat out ala bosa.

I agree and I like nothing Winovich and Bush.

If we got an offensive lineman preferably Jonah Williams, Cody Ford, Andre Dillard in that order and then had a chance to get Gary in the 2nd this draft would be a home freaking run.  I understand that he won't be 100% all year and might surgery but you don't pass on that kind of talent. And just as insurance take Christian Miller in the 3rd as our pass rusher. Imagine having our 1st 3 picks being Jonah/Ford, Gary and Miller. That would be amazing and just to make it even more exciting pick up Khalen Saunders with our comp pick and our old defensive line with little depth just becomes pretty exciting.

This would be the dream/ ideal scenario.. but I dout Gary last til our pick in the second round.. you probably would have to move a 4 or something to get him in the second. I’m afraid of the patriots who have 3 number 2 picks and 2 3rds and some 4ths.

I would have not problem giving up a 4th to move up for him. I would even think about it for the comp pick if I could get a 4th or 5th back.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
