An Early Look at the Stats : Panthers vs 49ers

This sounds very similar to how teams used to talk about the Panthers during the 15....take away Greg, and make the rest beat you.

Kyle (coach) is a very very good offensive mind, it may be a fun chess match between him and Ron.  I need to go back and look, but I don't think that we had a very good record vs. Shanny when he was in ATL.

Yeah, except Jimmy G is not, and never will be 2015 Cam Newton.

I was just looking at the 49s forum and they are worried about their run defense, Burns is not on Bosa level and worried about their starting tackles. Some say CMC is overrated look our last game as proof.

some needs to go show them what the Bucs do to elite NFL RBs.  They bottle them up.   It isn't luck or a coincidence.

Our run defense has been stellar the biggest thing is the opening drive that past few games they have come out a little flat but then they get with it and it’s a smother fest

Some of the logical fans said this but the others where bashing them for saying the Bucs D line is good

Didn't watch the game.  Best RB yall probably have faced is Chubb.  They got down really big early which forces you away from the run but his stat line looked very healthy the little he ran.    Stats lines can be distorted though and look better than the reality.

but it is hard to get a feel for SF.  I mean it isn't their fault....but they just have played all bad/dysfunctional teams.   I mean, the Rams are decent but just really weird to figure out this year too.

The only way to shut CMC down is to devote the whole defense to it.

CMC is a monster and he is definitely someone we have to watch I live in nc and 90% of my friends are panther fans. I watch the panther games with them now and then. What’s sad is opposing teams know he’s going to get the ball they just can’t stop him. Our defense is fast and cmc will most likely make the first defender miss but if he slows him just a step I hope the rest our guys will be right there. Should be a great game definitely our biggest test

Burns is playing better or at least on par with Bosa I'd say.  More sacks, more QB hits, a FR for a TD.  Bosa has a few more TFL's but overall pretty similar.

    • It's been many a year since we were in December talking about how games mattered for something other than draft order. This crazy, mixed up, unpredictable, maddening, uplifting and teeth gnashing season has certainly not been boring.
    • If you look at Brown and Horn's contracts, expect to pay above what he is likely actually worth. This is the Panthers suckage tax. Ultimately, much like Derrick Brown, he has steadily improved over time and that's what you want out of your young first round draft picks. He was one of the biggest and most important question marks coming into the season and he has answered it conclusively. He is "the guy" at LT. Great news, one less position of extreme importance to have to attempt to remedy.
    • This is maddening because, well, it's so up and down. When the kid's on, he can be great. When he's mediocre, we can still win based on a strong running game and good defense. When he's bad, and over his history he's this more than not, then it's a sad show that no one could win with. How can anyone know what is going to happen right now? Really. It's like picking one flake in a snow globe and shaking it once a week... there is no telling where it will end up. Things I did see on Sunday from Bryce: his teammates love him; he can make the big throws with good protection and good effort from his receivers. He isn't afraid to run. He can rise up against the best in competition (but he can also sink to the level of bad competition).  All I can say is if Canales goes with an aggressive game plan for Bryce that leans on a hot-hand running game, the team can beat anyone. If there's any wishy-washy play calling, then Bryce melts and couldn't beat anyone.  Maybe the person Bryce needs to win over more than anyone is Canales.
