Myles Garrett suspended indefinitely

Are you paid millions of dollars to tackle other people who are paid millions of dollars to avoid tackles? Do you regularly have inter company competitions that afford you the opportunity to tackle coworkers from other offices? Have you ever been in a heated physical contest that you were paid millions of dollars for, with millions of people watching? Nope.

Why do some of you constantly compare the NFL to your job. They're not comparable on any level, other than you both get paid, but that's tenuous at best.

So I mean, steel chair from the sidelines gotta be cool too. I mean can they start in the parking lot too?

NHL literally has dudes on a team that are paid to be goons.  Fighting is literally the highlight of that sport.  Even the NHL acknowledges there are lines....where the but this is a physical sport narrative doesn’t excuse all action.

I am floored they haven't done anything to the QB yet.  He tried to rip a player's helmet off, kicked him in the balls, and then chased after him (without a helmet on).

He deserves a game.   All of that was done prior to helmet-smash 2019.

People keep saying this, but it's just simply not true. Why would Garrett have apologized so profusely to Rudolph today if Rudolph had kicked him in the balls intentionally or even inadvertently?

So he gets 3 games for jumping on a player, punching him, and kicking him while Garrett gets suspended indefinitely. No favoritism there. None at all.

You mean he gets 3 games for jumping on the dude who literally could of killed Rudolph?

You think Pouncey and Garrett committed equal infractions?  Take the kick out and I’d argue Pouncey shouldn’t get anything.

Seems fair? By what twisted logic? He sucker punched Garrett, multiple times, then kicked him in the head, for something Garrett did to another player. If you want to get tough on player fights after the whistle, suspend them both. Stop with this, "he was just being a good teammate!" nonsense. A good teammate would have made sure they were properly separated, and kept his yappy dog QB from coming after Garrett after Garrett had been pulled away.

He was being a good teammate, then took it too far.  He deserved a suspension.  3 games is a lengthy suspension and worth what he did.  He fuged up.  Period.  But... There is NOTHING comparable about ripping a helmet off another player and then swinging it at his head. Nothing.

To those suggesting Rudolph be suspended: Nothing he did warrants a suspension, but perhaps a fine.  He COULD have ripped off Garrett's helmet but stopped, then when Garrett lunged at him and tried to kick him off of him *because he was yanking him off the ground by his facemask*.  Rudolph threw no punches and once Garrett was separated he took no direct physical action against him.  Rudolph running after Garrett is not something you can suspend him for, lol.  Dudes get up into each others faces in the NFL all the time.  But only once has one of them used a helmet as a weapon.  Hence the suspension.

Exactly all three should have been suspended but the NFL wants to make sure the Steelers have a chance at the playoffs like every year. While punishing the Browns for beating them.

Based on his play last night, not suspending Rudolph was the most they could have done to hurt their playoff chances.

fits a narrative, that's why.  Rudolph was flailing his legs and tried to kick Garrett off of him *while* Garrett was trying to rip his helmet off his head.  Some other poster said Rudolph "Stomped" Garrett's crotch... this false narrative is crazy...

That wasn't the point of my comment. However, there is plenty of violence in hockey that goes unpunished off the ice. Either way, my/your job, and that of a professional athlete playing a violent sport, are in almost no way comparable.

My point is Garrett should be criminally charged He coulda killed the guy. Just look up the names of McSorley or Bertuzxi who were convicted  of criminal charges and sued

Find a player in the last 25 years suspended for comparable behavior that Mason exhibited

Not at all surprised he has to petition the commissioner to get reinstated.  So,during the offseason he has to grovel and present Goodell the certificate he earned for completing his anger management class.

Does anybody know if the stadium in Cleveland is built on some ancient burial ground or ritual site?  Between things like this and the curse that has followed the Browns, you have to begin to wonder.  Garrett was probably chanting "redrum, redrum" when this was going on.

Multiple sources mainly from ex players coaches and personnel say the Browns issue is at the top and slightly below it. They’re incompetent, but there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. They aren’t going to fire themselves. Then you hear from players about the laziness trickling down and basically no one cares to properly develop players. There is no incentive. They already have die hard fans who will pay to go to games regardless. It’s like a cool thing to be a Brown fan now almost in a joking /hip/trendy way. Everyone loves a Browns fan.

But from a business standpoint it’s really sad. Just goes to show if you’re not happy with your team, don’t financially support them, it does make a difference.

Really??

Because Garrett's reaction was so completely absurd and over the top, that it didn't matter if he got kicked in the crotch or not.  He HAD to apologize because he looked like a lunatic.

It doesn't mean that the picture showing him getting kicked is a fake.  And it doesn't mean that Rudolph, who also seems like a hothead, didn't try to rip Garrett's helmet off (and then chase him unprotected, like a loon)
