If we lose out, we get a high draft pick

Cleveland gets high draft picks every year, doesn't matter much.  Its better to have more draft picks in the first four rounds.  If we could get a top 10 pick and trade it for a later first and a second, that would be idea.

Depends on who and what positions we wanna draft. If its mainly interior OL then moving down while collecting more draft picks isnt a bad move.

Cleveland sucked at drafting in the 1st. That's why they aren't as good as they should be. Look at the 11 picks below in 7 years. They had 4 extra 1st rounders (lots of trades) and they got basically nothing for all those 1st rounders. That's how they turned high draft picks into a shitty team year after year. They are the worst example. SF, on the other hand, parlayed Jimmy G being hurt into Nick Bosa. We turned our poo 2016 season into CMC. The Browns turned 4-12, 5-11 and 4-12 into Trent Richardson, Barkevious Mingo and Justin Gilbert. LOL.

2017 25 Jabrill Peppers SAF Michigan
2017 29 David Njoku TE Miami (Fla.)
2016 15 Corey Coleman WR Baylor
2015 12 Danny Shelton DT Washington
2015 19 Cameron Erving T Florida State
2014 8 Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma State
2014 22 Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M
2013 6 Barkevious Mingo OLB LSU
2012 3 Trent Richardson RB Alabama
2012 22 Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State
2011 21 Phillip Taylor DT Baylor

They aren't the only ones.  Cleveland is the example at the bottom, while SF is probably at the top, but even as good as San Francisco is now, they are still only 3 out of 6 or so with first round picks over the last four years.  They have had two #2 picks in the last three yearsand at least one of them is like to be a bust at this point (solomon thomas).  At least in relation to where he was picked.

And if you look at the first qb taken in each draft for the last 10 years, its not exactly encouraging.  Only two superbowl appearances among all 10, Cam and Jarred Goff.  Luck was ok, but injured a lot.  Jury is still out on Murray and Mayfield, but the rest of them were a long list of wasted picks.

Draft is a crapshoot, and losing to get a higher pick rarely if ever works out.

It can be, but top 10 picks are on average way better. Look at some of the crap drafts like 2016. Once you get out of the top 10, it’s garbage but the top 10 was solid. It’s rare to have a 2013 draft where it was better after the top.

Perhaps, but is there enough of a difference to concern yourself with finishing 4th vs 8th, ie tanking to get a higher pick?  Imo, losing is a mindset, and the only way to break it is to start winning and gain confidence.  I look at 2014, and how we were at one point as bad or worse than we are this year.  Then we started winning towards the end of the season, and even though it only netted us one playoff win, it gave us confidence heading into the next season.

On the flip side, I think all the end game failures starting with last year's washington game have played into the lack of confidence the team seems to have this year when we get into crunch time.  A losing mentality is a hard thing to get rid of.

Personally having 7-8 picks in the top 100 is even better.  Hard to get, but worth it if you can.

Yep, Saints rest starters. We drop 6 spots. Homers say this was an inspirational win against Saints backups and Ron should be back next year

Wait... didn't you get the memo?

The Saints were trying 100% at the end of the season last year and weren't trying any intra-divisional fuggery against their divisional opponents.

At all!

It was a great win for Ron Rivera and Kyle Allen!

The guy that just got blown out at home by his arch rival again?  Just go ahead and stab my eyes out now.

Nick Saban couldn’t have his success in the NFL. Some can coach one better than the other. Jim is a great NFL coach, just look at his record.
