The issue....is this is what it's always been with Ron and Marty.

This year they are throwing poo against the wall hoping for it to stick, as they know they are at the end of their rope.

Tepper giving Marty and Ron another year was no different than Jerry trotting Foxy out there during his last season.  You knew that they were going to mess it up, it's just what they do...and now they have, and now the mess gets larger to clean up.

We are a dumb football team, and have been for a very long time.

We were definitely a dumb football team under Richardson. Our record shows that.

I'm really really hoping we're not anymore.

I would never refer to Rivera as dumb, but I have frequently referred to him as "not smart enough".

I've used the metaphor of a high school kid who's good at chess playing against a grandmaster. The kid might take a piece or two, But ultimately he's going to get outsmarted and lose.

Back in the old days when half the league's preferred strategy was just "line up and slam into each other and see who survives", a guy like Rivera could be successful.

Those days are gone.

I haven't referred to him as dumb in the past either, like you said, dumb NFL coach, but not dumb.

I'm starting to rethink my stance though.

When Tepper does something smart, I'll buy in.  So far, not very much smart stuff has happened around this team.

Didn't we spend a good portion of this offseason trying to create a roster that did fit, though?

Granted, you were never going to make Luke fit this scheme regardless of what you did.

Yea but one off-season was not enough to transition to the 34, we sorely lacked at quality NT depth and 34 DE depth. As far as Luke goes i think he can play in the 34 fine if it was geared right, he did lead the league in tackles for a portion of the year before KK went down. It makes it real hard on running downs when you really need two guys that can take s double team and you barely have one. I dont have all 22 but alot of what ive seen from others is a big guard or center all in Lukes grill, this will neutralize Ray Lewis in his prime.

Reminded of a question I had yesterday...

We've spent all season worried that the coaching staff would run Christian McCaffrey into the ground.

Why did they suddenly seem to abandon him yesterday?

Did the Redskins really do that good a job or did we help them out a lot?

Our O-Line could not open any holes, nor sustain any blocks in pass pro.  The failure on O yesterday falls squarely on the line.

It’s sad. I’ve been a big draft critic with the past two drafts. They were dripping with Gs and Cs. The god damn Saints got a stud C/G (C for them) one pick after the pick we traded up from to get Little. We gave up pick 77 (tons of OL there) to get Greg Little. They picked one pick after our old spot and got someone who could easily be Ryan Kalil for them. SMH again.

The fact that we missed GVR is laughable. Not at him, he’s done an admirable job but he’s not that talented. He was awful last year and has improved. It’s laughable that we get that much worse without him and he’s average at best.

I still laugh every time I see recent posts talking about drafting a LT again. If we ignore interior OL again this offseason, we might as well just not watch as fans. Pressure up the middle and not being able to get short yardage without running outside will kill us again. We’ve lost several games (4 by my count) because our interior OL sucks balls.

It was unreal to see them trade up for Little when there were so many good interior linemen. And that is even without considering the quality of our starters. If anything, 2018 showed us we needed to shore up the depth along the OL as well. Something that some of us have been screaming for years now.

Just a tremendous missed opportunity to not build that line up further.

Have mentioned it a couple of times: The staff believed that they could get away with skimping on the offensive line because we have a mobile quarterback. Now we don't have a mobile quarterback.

To be completely honest though, it was a stupid choice even when we did.

Yup, considering that's why we don't have said mobile QB now lol.  This staff's ineptitude has been astounding.

Huge miss. So many interior OL. I can even excuse waiting until 47 to take Little but anyone with a brain knew that you could take McCoy and have a 90% chance of getting Ryan Kalil or you could take Little and have a 30% chance of getting Gross. Seems like a no brainer to me, especially if you don’t trade up and use 77 to take G/T Bobby Evans. With no effort at all we could have McCoy at C, $9M more in cap space and Bobby Evans.

Still stings when I think about Gaulden over real safeties and Little, Grier and Scarlett over a potential pro bowl C, Maxx Crosby, Evans and 1 more OL like David Edwards. Sickens me that we had Crosby, McCoy and Evans in for private visits and got almost nothing instead of those 3. The guys I’m talking about drafting were all available and they were all on our short list.

The moment that defines our recent drafting for me is that when we traded up, Buffalo was scared we were about to take Cody Ford. That, to them was the obvious logical choice.

Instead we took Greg Little.

I imagine when the choice was announced, they not only breathed a huge sigh of relief but might have also chuckled a bit.

That's the 2nd time it's happened to Marty with Buffalo.

This year with Little with the next selection being Ford, and Silatolu with the next selection being Cordy Glenn.

Just brutal.

I feel fairly certain there are probably several stories of our draft choice announcements leading to puzzled reactions in other war rooms.

I'd probably rather not know just how many.

Can you imagine when we took Armanti and Brown?

Good lord the other GM's had to be cackling.
