CMC MVP status

Hypothetical here... if we made the playoffs, where would CMC have finished in MVP voting? It’s sad that such a historic season went to waste. The THIRD player in the history of the NFL to accomplish what he did.

i think if we made the playoffs he would have deserved MVP. Unfortunately due to the position bias realistically I think he finishes second behind lamar regardless.

Easily.

As for bias not so much. If a playoff team player did 1,000/1,000 that’s basically a shoe-in.

The whole problem celebrating this poo is CMC got to 1k receiving yards primarily because we were so awful at QB all we could do was dump off passes to him. We had very little deep passing game to speak of.

Yeah the record is great but I'd rather be in the playoffs than having a consolation circle jerk.

Also, if there's anyone out there who thinks records like this for CMC in what is ultimately a wasted season won't bite us in the ass and give him significant leverage over us come contract time with how heavily we've been utilizing him you are living a fantasy.

no qb throwing for 3000 plus/rushing over 1200/ and over 40 tds is more impressive with better record and no1 seed.

Christian would have to have playoff appearance and break pretty much all the significant rb records.

Last person who did that was Adrian Peterson with a crappy qb. Plus no one says it but I think the media looks at rushing for 2,000 yards more impressive than 1k/1k.

Wow what a 180. When cam was setting personal records but our team was dismal you were ecstatic and if anyone posted what you did it was thinly veiled racism. Lol

Yeah, if we try to franchise him, he'll argue he's a wide receiver

His agent will also ask to be paid like a top wide receiver, not a RB

Hopefully we're wise and trade him by the time of his second contract to some sucker GM who believes RBs are non fungible

You mean like Cam did in 2017, 2018 and the beginning of 2019?

It’s one of CMC’s strongest suits. It’s called check down for a reason.

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
