Dude I'm wholly with Reid politically and applauded Tepper for having the sack to bring him here, but I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling out of his coverage play this year, sorry. I also felt he's behaved as a bit of a loose cannon on the field, picking up several questionable penalty calls. I would love for him to be playing lights out for us right now, but at the moment I cannot agree that his coverage play hasn't been a liability. I would greatly prefer for that not to be the case, but I am calling it like I see it.

Do not fall victim to the notion that the only reason one can be critical of Reid's play is due to political reasons. That is a flawed premise from the beginning.

Coverage skills have always been my biggest concern with Reid. As the NFL progresses, it seems that the hard hitting guys are going to find it more and more difficult to adjust. Reid is good in the run D, but that's not what we really need IMO. If guys are getting past our front 7, we are going to have a hard time stopping anyone. Having to bring him up more into the box puts more stress on the other DBs to get it done, and with the new rules leaning to receivers more, again, this is going to get harder and harder.

He is good at what he does, hard hitting box safety. His coverage skills are less than desirable and we don't have the front 7 right now to allow for those deficiencies in his game.

Our biggest deficiency right now is drafting the past 2 years. We had the picks to really shore up some of our weaker areas and we poo'd the bed taking project guys and following Hurndog's gut when there was serious talent and depth at the interior line and safety positions. It looks like we've really come away with very little right now when the opportunity for more was so great.

That's just it. Player's like Reid are really not as valuable as they were 10+ years ago. You need both of your safety's to be able to cover and Reid is just not very capable of doing that. It sucks because he tested out very well athletically at the combine, so it isn't like he is incapable of being good in coverage.

I’d go cb or WR at 7 depending who’s on the board.

it would also be as close but either way you are really shooting in the dark when picking a ot in the first, the bust rate is up there.

og and dt can be address in fa, looking at you scherrf and suh.

s and c in rounds 2-3 and call it a day.

sidenote the bradberry deal I’d strongly consider using the money saved from not resigning him towards another better cb like Byron Jones or ultimately franchise bradberry, rather be stuck on a bad one year deal than to sign him long term for what he’s asking

    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
