The Case for CB at #7 (Okudah)

I scooped out the scenario in which I’d make him the pick.

dt isn’t as big as a need as stated, scheme is a bigger issue, so the right dc can fix the issues with the run defense. Mainly we shouldn’t have lbs taking on c’s and guards. We have cap to sign a stop gap like suh and keep McCoy.

ot is harder to deter from given the issues but I would argue g and c play were bigger issues than actually ot play, also the qbs we fielded were horrible at pocket awareness or shifting the pocket. Little also was banged up majority of the year and Daley did look decent. The possibility of Thomas and Okudah being at 7 is slim but if both were there would be a hard choice.

bradberry, I’m not sold on this top 5 money he’s supposedly demanding, I would opt in to franchise him before giving him a long term deal.

brandon scherff in fa, and a c in rds 2-3 profit.

i can also make the case for WR at 7 and not resigning bradberry and using that money for a guy like Byron Jones instead

Okudah is a Beast

But point blank

We need to hit the trenches on either side with the first pick.

A strong DL and front 7 can mask a weak secondary.

What a strong secondary Can't do?  Mask a weak DL, watching teams run the he11 all over you.

This is what's a problem.. You're setting yourself up for failure.. If we don't get the best Olinemen or Dlinemen in the draft doesn't mean it's a failure or lost year. If we get the best CB or WR we can still get trench help in FA or later in the draft..

If a scenario unfolds that Thomas and Brown are gone, I’d be looking to trade down. I’m looking at this as a worst case scenario.

I see that.  However, there is a big dropoff in talent after about 8-10 players, imo.

    • Other than the wasted pick on Allar, id love this.
    • Hos production by snap count and targets isn't bad. They must REALLY be tired of dealing with his knuckleheaded behavior which is saying something for an organization that put up with Stephon Diggs for four years.
    • Bryce had his best season this year and it wasn't even remotely as good as Stroud's "worst" (2024, which was still a damn good season). His passer rating and efficiency were actually up this year compared to last.  His yards and TDs would likely have been higher as well, were it not for missing three games due to injury.  So he's actually improved his overall body of work. I don't see any trend downward whatsoever.  I agree the playoff game was a meltdown, but I think that had much more to do with missing weapons and what appeared to be an injured hand.  After his hand hit the center's helmet his accuracy clearly suffered.  It was a terrible game, but I don't foresee it being as career-altering. In regard to the topic of the thread, I'd trade 5 Bryce Youngs for one CJ Stroud in an instant and never look back.
