Man I would love for us to get Thomas in the first and Cam finally have a blindside protector worth a poo for the first time since Gross left. I’ve always been a defense first kinda guy, but the current NFL feels so heavily weighted towards offenses that it’s almost as if you build a good enough offense the defense becomes a secondary concern.

I have nothing against Simmons, but I really don’t want a lb in the first.

Gross didn't "leave". Gettleman ran him off.

Simmons is the textbook definition of a Marty Hurney pick

Simmons an awesome dude/player.  Crazy diverse.  Like of the TD/Shaq mold. I think he is a tad better coming into the league than them though

but like so many Hurney picks...you wish need would factor in often and he would get an equally awesome player at one of our glaring holes

Would be happy with Simmons,  Brown Okulad or 1 of the top 2 OT .

You don't pass up on freak talent when its there..

Which ever player is rated higher we should take them no matter position..

Positional value and difficulty to fill (essentially one in the same) should absolutely come into play.

Yeah, he loves drafting LBs and it would probably be a "good pick" in that I think Simmons will likely be a very good NFL player but it probably won't be a pick that really leads to winning football games because our trenches will still be a disaster and he's going to be fighting blockers every snap.

Cam is coming back. The pick is Andrew Thomas, not a fuging LB. We have Shaq to tackle the RB ect. Good enough.

We have been horrible vs the run for 2 years now and it isn’t because of a lack of talent at LB.

We need investments up front

You know why teams suck at drafts cause they have the same thought that you guys have . Hey let’s draft needs let’s take a tackle just cause we need one who cares if we pass up on a hof talent in the process  . Which is backwards as hell . Use free agency for needs . Use the draft to take the BPA every single time . But that’s not gonna happen cause the obvious choice isn’t so obvious . Esp with hurn dog running the draft

I agree with positional value when it comes to "equal" or close to prospect ..

But if you got a chance to get a Megatron or (generational type talent) .. You take him.. And figure the rest of the team out...

Simmons is being compare to a bigger version of the Honybadger who is fast and can play up to 4 position on a defense..  Give me that poo all dam day...

Yep.  He’d be a stud.  One we love.  But he is Shaq.  He is Jonathan Stewart.   We have watched this movie way too many times.   He is stud who doesn’t make us as good as a player of that caliber should because of the talent we already have vs our holes

I’d argue BPA often does factor in need and we don’t do that enough

see Cam Newton.  Which was one of the few times we figured that out perfectly.  Most teams didn’t have Cam #1 in terms of BPA.  But we were coming off a Clausen season

He isn't Shaq or Stew.  This is a different type of player.. Shaq and Stew were still prototype players for their position.. This guy is a above prototype player for 4 position..

Oh for sure. If you think there's a generational type talent, take him. I'm not THAT sold on Simmons though.

Simmons is a prototype modern NFL LB. He ain't playing safety.
