Hollis Thomas doing better than Kemoeatu?

Kemo is awful at rushing the passer

he gets no push most of the time, and even when he does he can't contain the QB.

No argument here. I doubt many people his size and posistion can contain a QB. They take him out on obvious passing downs. Im arguing his other talents make him a Dt worth keeping.

This site watches every game and rate players on every game they play. And combine it overall using advanced stastics. Kemo is number 13 out of 86.

He obviously is played on less snaps then others around him, and his pass rush number arent anything worth noting. However overall he shown to be an pretty effective player at his position. Granted this site isnt the end all of the argument, but it goes to show how is much more is involved.

They take him out on passing downs to bring in a faster pass rusher and perhaps to give him a bit of a breather. Thomas has been superb at clogging things up on the line and collapsing the center, but at his age, its best to rely on him for what he is best at and not ask him to spend as much time chasing around a passer.

He's been the bargain of the year, as far as I am concerned, with Sutton a close second.

I agree with you, I mean Thomas has stepped in and been very useful in covering the holes! I would like to see him stick around for next year, just his age is a concern. Sutton to me has been a suprise pick up! He's explosive and i like his determination to get every inch! Also I just wanted to throw Sherrod Martins name out there, while he was in the he played excellent, and I think that he could give Godfrey a run for his money at the starting saftey job.

In Kemo's defense, we never got to see him play under Meeks system.

Agree. Thomas has, but Kemo didn't. I can't say Thomas is better until we see Kemo return & play in a regular season under Meeks. But his injuries might made him not play that good like he use to be unfortunaely.

And Kemo was never good? I bet some of you don't remeber our game against the Giants last year. Our defense struggle without Kemo & Lewis. That is a sign Kemo is better than some give him credit for.

Kemo's a one dimensional DT. his only trick is stopping the run, which he isn't quite that good at, and he has no pass rushing capabilities, he can't generate pressure in the passing game, and that's why he's not as good as people like to think he is.

How many have you seen Vince Wilfork or Casey Hampton get? Its called a 2 gap DT and thats what we wanted when we signed him. If you think what he dose is one dimensional you dont understand his job.

yea they line up at a different spot and play a completely different defensive front in pittsburgh and new england but fug it it's the same exact thing.

if you look at highlight tapes from 2008 they get much better pressure when he's subbed out on passing downs.

We get it, he's not a decent pass rusher. No one is arguing that. Were arguing that his other talents and considring his role as a NT, he is still a valuable DT.
