Sign OT Jack Conklin

For some reason the Titans did not pick up the 5th year option on the former #8 OVR draft pick ...

First Team All-Pro as a rookie in '16

57 Games Started in 4 seasons including all 16 this season

Will be 26 in August. This man is about as sure a thing at Tackle as you're going to get and I would have no problem if Hurney and Tepper had the Brinks Truck back-up into Conklin's driveway.

Signing Conklin  stabilizes one of the Tackle positions for five years. Set it and forget it. He's been mostly a RT - who knows if we would try him out at LT .. he played LT in college ..

What a big boost this guy would give our offensive line. We're so down and depressed about the state of our offensive line but we sign this guy and wow it looks a whole lot better.

He has had one decent year which was this year, been terrible other than that, that is why they didnt pick up his option. Also we already have a RT in Moton. Conklin can't come close to playing Left

He was a First-Team All-Pro his rookie season ..

He only played 9 games last season which was when they had to make the decision on his option - they decided not to pick it up and Conklin played well this season in all 16 games ...

Guy is as sure a thing as you can get. fug drafting a OT at #7  .. this guy was taken #8 in 2016 and has lived up to where he was drafted.

Has been a very reliable pro.

As much as I want and we need a OT, please no more Matt Kalil types. I'd rather have a Bryan Bulaga or Anthony Constanzo if we decide to move on an OT in free agency.

lol .. this Conklin is not a Matt Kalil type.

Everybody here should be in complete agreement that we sign Conklin.

Guy is a premier Tackle in this league.

I dont think you get the gist of what tepper wants and what Rhule is going to build.  This is going to be a rebuild from the ground up.  A total culture change.  They are going to handpick, mostly through the draft players that they want and how it fits in their vision.  They are not in a "win now" mentality.  He has already said as much.

No, man. We signed Joe Brady to win now. You're caught up in the smokescreen. We are winning, and now.

You might want to tell Tepper that because he said the exact opposite.  And I dont think hiring a 30 year old offensive coordinator signals we are in a "win now" mode.

Its almost if you have never listened to Tepper talk.  He is in no way in a desperation win now mode.  In fact its the exact opposite.

Rhule says the plan is to win a Super Bowl with Cam Newton .. but because its something you don't want to hear he was probably only just saying that. He didn't really mean it.

Tepper said ideally the Panthers win a Super Bowl with Cam Newton .. but because its something you don't want to hear he was probably only just saying that. He didn't really mean it.

But, Tepper says its going to be a five-year re-build and you just eat that right up like it's straight from the mouth of Jesus don't you. There is no, he's probably just saying that, he didn't really mean it, on that re-build statement.

Get off this board non-fan.

A) There is no need for insults

B)Tepper has made more comments then just that one about it being a culture change, process, program etc

C) What else would you expect them to say about Cam?  Plus every time they mention him its with the caveat "if he is healthy...."

    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
    • Canes are so fascinating. Despite inconsistent defense and poor goalie play they keep winning.
