I am just not seeing why some people are so sure about Greg Little after he had two concussions in his first year and was pretty up and down in terms of play. Our OL is easily the worst unit on this team and has the least depth. We are going to have to do something to improve them.

Little basically is a rookie tackle.

He's only played in 4 games, started 3 .. I can see how you can say that. He's been in an NFL building since last April though .. he has a full NFL off-season to acclimate.

I just think OT at 7 is the classic reach. We are so desperate for solid line play we'll do anything for it, even if it means drafting a T at 7 that will take a couple years to develop.

Like I said .. if we could draft somebody like a D'Brickashaw Ferguson at pick 7 .. I'm all for it .. started at LT for the Jets Day 1 and did not miss a start in 10 years .. Ferguson is an anomaly though.

not my analogy to start with, working with what I got. Dealing with a broken garage door spring this morning so not really up for "cooking up" a whole new analogy.

Maybe you can compare players to garage door parts

I feel like it is beyond my literary skill to make that work.

using your analogy I'd say what we have at present is a torsion spring in the garage door that there is a very strong probability has weakened beyond it's failure point, and if you use the operator, maybe the door just won't work at all.

On the topic, I really don't think defensive tackles get enough credit. They're just as valuable as defensive ends but since everybody loves edge rushers, they rarely get their due.

A guy who can clog the middle or push the inside of the pocket so that a quarterback can't step up to avoid pressure is a valuable asset. With a lot of these guys, the stats don't do justice to just how much of an effect they have.

With all that said...

There's no way I can go against a strong line anchor to protect the heart of the offense. I've watched what our team looks like without one long enough.

I go left tackle, no question.

Personally I value DTs more than I value DEs.  Sure, it looks awesome when a DE is having a great day, but overall I think DTs impact more plays overall.
