Since 3pm - and after making no moves - We are finally locked into ridding ourselves of the leftovers of Lance Stephenson's deal.. if you can believe it..

It wasn't that bad of a contract and I was all for signing him at the time - I remember banging to roof of my beige Honda Accord that everyone had at the time I heard it on the radio.. but through HORRID GM'ing - we managed to flip a semi-bad 3 year deal into a 6 YEAR chain-mail, virus-infected email from beyond the grave.. But ladies and gentlemen - we are finally at it's end..

2014: Lance Stephenson 3yr @27m =
traded Lance to LAC for Spencer Hawes =
traded Hawes to MIL for Miles Plumlee =
traded Plumlee to ATL for Dwight Howard =
traded Dwight to Booklyn for Timofey Mozgov =
traded Mozgov to ORL for Bizmack Biyombo =
2020: FINALY EXPIRES

Good good good.. Stay on this path.. Keep losing while being competitive.. Work our way to a top 3 or 4 pick... Edward's, Wiseman,  or Ball could be the homegrown foundation piece we need... Hopefully with the trades.. Cleveland,  Golden state,  Minnesota,  and Atlanta get better.. While New York keeps in our range.

Those trades make my brain hurt.  Who ever thought trading hawks for plumlees awful contract was a good idea is beyond me.  Then taking on Mozgov’s contract.  At least Howard could rebound and play defense.

is the only benefit of these buyouts for williams and mkg to be able to play young guys more?  And of course not to tank.  There is no real financial benefit, right?

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
