Well Cam was an MVP of the NFL, Olsen wasn't. I'll post the same stat from yesterday.

Percentage of NFL MVP QB's that are current HOF(only includes HOF eligible players): 62%

I think Cam being a HOF player is largely going to depend on the length of his career. He is currently on track to post HOF caliber statistics and has that MVP on his resume. If he added an NFL title to that, I'd say it is pretty likely he is a HOF candidate.

Also, the competition to get into the HOF at QB is pretty stiff. Not so much as a TE. That doesn't diminish the great career that Olsen has had, but it is the truth.

Just so we are clear, what HoF PASSING statistics Cam is tracking?

Believe it or not alot of Panthers fans are ready for us to get rid of Cam. I'm kinda torn. I just don't feel like alot of people are confident he can come back close to the 2015 season. And the reality is that was 5 years ago.

Exactly how I feel and like most in here, I also know my opinion is pretty meaningless and not going to actually matter. I just think it’s funny that the proponents of Cam don’t seem to care that he’d play out the final year of his contract with no safety net. If he’s traded, I’d be shocked if the new team didn’t at least extend him a couple years.

Also, you are so right on the injuries. 2015 was his last fully healthy year. Even in 2017, we weren’t even sure if he’d play at the start because of the surgery on the shoulder after 2016 where we shut him down the last weeks. His arm looked awful the first few weeks of 2017. Heck he had 11 games of 129 to 185 yards passing. We won two games where Cam had 129 yards passing (1 TD passing total in both games).

I’m not optimistic that he’ll ever get back to 2015 and way too many people are acting like he’s guaranteed to get back there now that he’s healthy, which we don’t know yet. There’s been a lot of workout videos over the past 4 years. Looks great but he still hasn’t been healthy.

Why pick that year? That was the same season he was zipping the ball up and down the field against the Saints in NO in the playoffs. The same playoff game we would have won if we weren't relegated to relying on practice squad wide receivers.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but your constant flailing about others having agendas is just that, because yours is glaring. Stop posting already.

Why is it no one is here trying to delegitimize someone like Luke Kuechly's potential hall of fame case with arguments like "well remove such and such from his numbers and he's just another guy"?

Is it because it would be a disingenuous bullshit tactic easily seen through? That's because it is. And we are seeing this from Panthers "fans" no less.

Make no mistake, there are fans who will rail against Cam Newton for his recent losing record as a starter yet offer no such standards and declarations for other fan favorites. Hell, there have already been numerous fans declaring CMC a hall of famer.

This seems like the most plausible scenario to me as well.

This is the only logical path forward from a FO standpoint. The wildcard is whether or not Cam wants to play on the final year of contract giving his recent injury history.

A little short-sighted to only look at his passing stats. He's labeled a Quarterback, not a Passerback.

But if you want to go that route, in 2 more seasons he'll surpass Steve Young in passing yards and passing TDs. He's already passed the best dual threat HOF QB of all time in every rushing stat available. Plus that would be 11 seasons vs Steve's 15.

Completely different era. Cam has more than a 1000 more attempts than Steve Young so he should have passed him already. There were simply way fewer passing attempts in general then. Cam's Yds per Att is 6.7, Young's is 8.0. Young has 50 MORE TDs than Cam on  more than a 1000 LESS attempts.  And no I am not personally attacking Cam. I find him highly entertaining. But based on production and stats Cam  is no where as good as Young. Again I am not bashing Cam but the stats speak for themselves. A duel threat is great QB, fun to watch and can open up a lot of different things for the offense. But it's not sustainable. Eventually a QB has to be a good passer. The Panthers are finding that out now.

Sorry just seeing this but I had to reply:

You're not bashing Cam but you're making it painstakingly obvious that you don't think he's a good passer. He's a much better passer than a lot of us give him credit for. Playcalling and receiving options play a huge role in the success of the passing game.

And Steve Young played with how many HOFers on the offense alone? And if they hadn't merced the greatest cover corner of all time, he probably still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl.

Cam has been a one man show most of his career, essentially carrying an offense where no one will be remembered except his TE - and that may have more to do with his commentator career than anything else, j/k Olsen was a BEAST.
