Panthers insight from a profile of Ron Rivera

I made a thread about "Who would you rather have as GM - Ron or Marty" and many here couldnt understand why I did. I knew Ron had ALL the power in Washington and couldnt believe it, so even after the hate for Marty is high, most here would have rather had Marty.

I believe shot in the stomach or the head was the most common comparison.

Which is more than fair. Still I can not believe Ron is the HC, GM, Team president, Asst GM, Chief of operations of a NFL team. I do not want Marty as GM, but at least he doesnt have ALL the power like Ron does. Im still trying to think what Ron did in Carolina made Danny think " I got to give that man ALL the power"..

Ron’s ability to evaluate talent was a consistent problem. As bad as Marty is, barring a radical change,  Ron will be a worse personnel man/GM than Marty.

    • I think that looked much better on Bryce's part than tmacs.  He made a really good adjustment to the ball but his separation is what is always going to worry me, he had absolutely none with Jackson on that play, Bryce threw him open.
    • I wouldn't be mad at it. I often call Luke "the best ILB that I've ever seen," and I've watched the game in earnest since I was nine, but I think there is more going on with Steve Smith---meaning it's political---than perhaps should be. I understand that he was not the nicest person---an asshole at times basically. People don't or didn't like him. That being said, he's still 8th all time in receiving yards, ahead of guys who have their gold jackets:   * Marvin Harrison (9th)  * Andre Johnson (11th)  * James Lofton (12th)  * Cris Carter (13th)   At some point, Smitty has to be inducted solely based upon the numbers (not to mention producing big results at his stature in a big man's game). I can see the snub early due to his temperament, but I hope it doesn't become a "thing," and I don't think Panthers fans, or NFL fans in general, should stay silent about it if it does.
    • for those who can't see the Twitter post, I'm assuming this post is about the list published in February with Greg and TD?    https://sports.yahoo.com/10-great-nfl-players-eligible-035121461.html
