What is it with Falcons speed rushers showing early promise before busting hard?

Julio gonna be doing back pain advertisements after his NFL career with how much he's had to carry the dead corpse that is the Falcons football team around all these years.

It’s crazy to me how little success we have had over the years but then our ex-coaches and GM’s love to bring the same garbage players along with them whenever they go somewhere else. Win or lose, I’m happy to have Rhule right now. At least it’s fresh.

Also, in "sort of" NFC South news (in that it regards a former Panther)

Do the Bills look at our roster with such anticipation?  I really don't get it.  It's like the dork in high school waiting for one of the cool dudes to dump their girlfriend so he can ask her out to the prom.  One man's cast off is another man's treasure.   Holding our cast-offs in such high regard though, is frankly laughable.

One day Brandon Beane will be back with the Panthers. It's like his destiny or some crap like that.

I can agree, but there's a part of my mind that's always going to wonder what would have happened if we'd have had McDermott in charge rather than Rivera.

I'd chalk this one up to personal familiarity.

McDermott knows him from his time here and probably thought it was just as good or better an idea to give him a shot than to sign another undrafted free agent.

I really don't understand how we let the Bills poach him from us in the first place. JR was clearly at the end of his rope with Gettleman. You don't up and fire a guy out of the blue. That divorce had been brewing for awhile. In hindsight, he should've fired Gettleman to promote Beane instead of firing Gettleman roughly seven weeks after letting the Bills poach the guy you had been grooming to be the long-term successor.

I'm not so sure Richardson thought of him as a long term successor.

Realistically speaking, if an opening was going to be made, he wasn't putting anybody but Marty Hurney back in that job.

The thing with the guys the Bills keep signing from us is that it's a lot of depth and rotational guys. They can sign them for cheap and they contribute at a reasonable level, on reasonable contracts that don't cripple the team.

To me a lot of it is just good, simple football moves that don't leave you in the situation we're currently in.
