I mean, it is the only successful major professional sports franchise the state has.

Not even gloating about it. I wish the Hornets and Panthers didn't suck more often than not.

The future looks very very bright and yes they have our only championship, but before last year this was a team that went a decade without making the playoffs... Other than the Cup win, have the Canes actually been any better than the Panthers? Of course a championship goes a long way.

Yes.  They have won a championship and also went in 2001.  They've also been to the ECF several times.  Also they have had back to back winning seasons.

Yeah, they have had been to 4 conference finals, won twice, and have a title. All in less time than the Panthers(yes I know they were a team that moved and not an expansion).

They are very clearly a far, far, far more successful franchise. If you look at standings, records, and accomplishments the Hurricanes are better across the board.

That nine year drought is the only reason this is even a discussion, had 2-3 playoff appearances happened in that 9 year span, this wouldn't even be considered a serious discussion.
