CB of the future

I know it is early to start talking about the draft and will probably get poo'd on for such. However, have only seen people talking about QB and Pitts as prospects for us. Don't get me wrong I love Pitts as a prospect but this kid Jaycee Horn could end up being the truth if he somehow falls to us in the 2nd round and was just going to post this video of him clamping down Seth Williams from Auburn who will more than likely be a 1st rounder in 2022. For all my Gamecocks fans here in the huddle, what are your impressions on Horn? To me he is a little handsy, but very physical. He also has great foot work for mirroring and man to man which would be a huge asset for us with the big receivers we will be facing and still looking for our Bradberry replacement. If you want a breath of fresh air compared to our cornerbacks, go to 3:55 in the video to peep out this man's willingness in run support as well.

So Carolina has some good CBs, but I think Horn is the best fit here--but you could make an argument for either.

When I look at the draft and free agency vs. needs, I think we have to go MLB and OT in the first two rounds, since Marty cannot draft offensive linemen.

CB is a need, but I think we miss out on a MLB and OT if we go CB that early--I think there is depth at CB,and I have seen Horn from second through the fourth rounds.

I agree, just wanted to see what you guys and gals thought on the matter, thanks for the feedback my friend. Only thing I can't see is Horn going anything past the 2nd round, especially if he lights up the combine. If Nick Bolton or Jevon Holland(Honey badger 2.0) fell to us in the 2nd round, I'd love to see that as well!

He's a very solid sleeper CB fr fr. Not a huge college fan, I just watch for prsopects I think that have potential to go to the panthers and enjoy scouting individuals. What's your opinion on Chazz Surratt and do you think he will be able to get off blocks at the next level??

The only MLB I’m ok with taking in the first is Parsons. OT will be a definite need and there should be a few solid ones after Sewell we can pick from. Offensive line should be priority one unless a QB we are high on falls to us or Parsons could be an exception because I think he is on another level. Horn is solid, but I think he will sneak into the late first...

Parsons is my dream pick as well however I highly doubt he will drop out of the top 7 after he puts up freak numbers at the combine and is a much more pure LB than Simmons was who was more of a tweener IMO, so I agree with you on that. If he's gone i would really want an OL as well. If they are both on the board when we are on the clock, to you prefer Alex Leatherwood or Wyatt Davis (assuming we extend Moton this off season).

Excited for what we’ve found in Douglas but Jackson is the definition of “hit or miss.” He was hot garbage in the KC game.

Douglas is nice and if we can get another strong perimeter CB outside the numbers to pair with him then put Donte in the slot, that would be ideal for his skill set.

Just curious, who do you want in the 1st round that could fall to us? ( not named Micah Parsons haha).

Honestly I haven’t researched as I don’t watch as much NCAA. I know we definitely need a MLB so if it makes sense and they right guy falls where we pick that would make me ecstatic. Wouldn’t be upset about CB, O-line either.

I feel like FA will be the best option to grab a starting corner and even a safety. There are usually some pretty good middle level guys floating around after all the big money players get signed. Focus on the offensive line and front seven with the draft.

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
