Today was not on Delhomme at all

It wasn't Delhommes fault today!! If it was I would be the first to point that out but clearly he wasn't the issue. He only threw the ball 12 times in the first 3 quarters because he didn't need to. If we had complete control of the game why change what we were doing?

Today D. Williams REALLY hurt us with that drop in the endzone. That would have made it 24 13 and completely shifted momentum back in our favor. Delhomme did bobble the snap before but he still made a damn good read to find williams open who couldnt bring it in.

Also the fumble on the 1 yard line ended any hope of making a comeback from a game we had locked up in the first half.

D. Jarrett is another bust. They have touted him as being awesome in practice but he has yet to deliver. Had a beautiful pass go right through his hands. Could have changed the outcome.

J. Stewart ran like he didn't give a damn today and fumbled on the 16. Luckily gamble got that INT.

But clearly the one play that hurt was the Deangelo drop. That would have made it an 11 point game instead of 7.

The defense looked lost in the second half. I can't understand why because everything N.O was doing was very simple. They ran the same play twice for a huge gainer and completed multiple short screens that kept going for 10+ yards.

Today was def. not on Delhomme, surprisingly.

It's on Delhomme because nobody trusted him to do anything. He's hurting us by not doing anything and he's hurting us by doing something.

Deangelo Williams wouldn't have fumbled on that 99 yard drive for a win if we had a QB because like any other normal NFL team we would be passing all downs to try and win in a 2 minute drive.

So yes, it's on Delhomme for being a QB and it's on the coaches for keeping him and not trusting him to do anything.

I wasn't going to post for a while but after seeing this idiot make one of the worst threads ever I have to. So, lets blame the game on the only reason we didn't lose by 30, real smart you dumb *****. Jake and Fox/Hurney are the reason we lost. Davidson called a terrible game, but he has a lose/lose situation. If he doesn't throw with Jake he gets criticized like today and if he throws it too much, Jake will obviously lose us the game. He is in this position because of a stubborn coach and a GM who doesn't realize you need a capable QB in this league to win. Jake is awful and should NOT be starting, but Jake is just being Jake. Who wouldn't take a fat new contract with a guarantee of being a starter?

I am finally going to chime in on one of the many "jake's fault or not fault threads"...............

it is "not" Jake's fault since he didnt throw picks or really do anything to lose the game..... but it IS Jake's fault because sadly he is done and there is not a better QB on the roster - THEREFOR - it is FOX/HURNEY's fault for their inability to have a QB of the future on this roster!!!.

Can't say Delhomme is not part of the problem b/c it is obvious by the playcalling they are scared of Jake. The playcalling is horrific and Jake is part of why it is as bad as it is.

They are taking Jake out to a large degree and letting the other guys try to win it. You can't win in 2009 playing 1970's football though......

It is Jake's fault because he has played so bad that the coaching staff has no confidence in him. It will continue to be his fault because they will run draw plays on third and long instead of letting him throw it. Fox has brought this on himself by failing to address the QB position. He never wanted to bring anyone in here that may have pushed Jake for his job. Jake is his boy and he is going to ride him right into the unemployment line. Jake has had flashes of being pretty good, but has never been more than mediocre on a consistent basis.

Until we GET A QB THAT CAN OPEN THE RUNNING GAME UP WITH A GREAT PASSING GAME, we are going to continue to lose like this. Until we get an offensive cordinator who can figure out how to get a subpar QB to pass correctly, we will continue to lose like this. Until we get a coach who will realize that PASSING AND RUNNING are ESSENTIAL in today's NFL and not RUN RUN RUN .... we will continue to lose.

And finally .... UNTIL WE GET AN OWNER WHO WILL COME OUT AND ADDRESS THESE ISSUES TO HIS FANS INSTEAD OF SITTING ON HIS FAT RUMP DOING NOTHING, we will continue to lose.

End of Line

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
