I'm guessing a lot of people at this point are thinking his Super Bowl win might have just been a perfect storm.

That's a lot of people's take on Gruden in Tampa. Lord knows they only went downhill after 2002.

I don't know about "perfect storm", because he absolutely coached the hell out of that game! Regardless though, I think that great coaches---good coaches and lucky coaches---respect the integrity of the game too much to pull the stunt that he did! It's just not done! His forehead may as well be marked with a T.

I've seen it speculated that Frank Reich might have had as much or more to do with that than Doug Pederson.

It's valid to note that since Reich left, the Eagles have fallen off while the Colts are doing pretty good.

Williams didn't tank though. I suspect fans have more tolerance for cheating than they do for tanking.

What it'd probably take would be somebody like his old mentor Andy Reid to throw him a lifeline.

He's a 52 year old SB winning HC. He wouldn't need any lifelines.

It was shocking to see Reich not get a HC job after they won the SB and all the Philly fans up here were relieved.  Then good old McD pulled out of Indy and Reich got hired immediately and the Eagles offense hasn't been anywhere near as good or consistent.

Who's now known as the guy who tanked a game on national TV, lost his players and might wind up being the quickest guy fired after a Super Bowl victory.

He's quickly gaining pariah status right now. Might be able to overcome it, but I don't think it'll be easy.

Those two things bolded....with losing his players being the worst part of it all.

If I am Lurie I am canning his azz.

I honestly don't think anyone believes he made that decision on his own though.
