All this time off with Dak in recovery mode and the offseason starting early for the team. No negotiations between the two sides, no mention yet of the franchise tag being used...

If they don't tag him before the deadline, stay away because that may have been a career ending injury he received and that they are trying to conceal. Or it may be something that requires lengthy rehab and the Cowboys aren't willing to wait on.

I'd let some other team take a run at that gamble.

They really can’t hide anything team doctors can give him a physical and make sure he is good before trade goes through.

No to DAK. You dont sign injured players on a comeback. They are never the same after that type injury.

Here is a quick list of QB's who have had season ending injuries (most more serious than Dak's):

1. Brady
2. Rodgers
3. Big Ben
4. Rivers
5. Watson
6. Brees
7. Manning

Doesn't seem like it impacted their careers.

How good is he though.

He's not a top 5 qb.

Where do you rank him?

1. Mahomes

2. Rodgers

3. Wilson

4. Watson

5. Brady

6. Big Ben

Through last year I probably have Rivers, Stafford, Breese, Allen,Ryan

All ahead of him in no particular order with Herbert closing fast.

Do you think he can win a Superbowl or is he just Romo 2.0?

I love how Brady isn't in your Top 4 QBs.

Dude has won SEVEN Super Bowls. SEVEN.

Oh there are ways to hide a lot of stuff, mainly by simply omitting things. It is always a buyer beware market. While we all know and saw the horrific injury Dak suffered, it doesn't behoove the Cowboys to go in and point out that might have a secondary injury or issue beyond what other teams know to look for.

And we've all seen cases of "x player passes the physical and joins new team" to only be followed up by "nagging injury sees player sidelined, this might be the end of the road for him." For a local example, do you remember anyone saying Cam didn't pass a team's physical before the season?

The list is longer for QBs who had season ending injuries that ended their careers. It's almost the same list as "all retired NFL QBs."

Plus he would be a FA in @Khyber53's scenario. Which means he'd have to go through all of this medical processessing before pen to paper would ever be considered.

In my scenario if he doesn't get a new contract or a franchise tag, then it doesn't matter if he's a free agent because he will be unable to perform anywhere near his previous levels.

The Cowboys aren't going to let Dak go if he is anywhere near his prior level of play. He's too good of a QB to release into the market. Dak, if able to play like he was before the injury, is the kind of player who can take a franchise to the Super Bowl. If he is still that guy, then there is no way the Cowboys don't lock him into a long-term contract.

    • I mean I'd like to add a monster TE as much as anyone else but ultimately what use will that serve with a QB who had 54 passing yards in 4 quarters at one point last season? Defense defense defense.
    • Personally I think he's a nightmare to cover I think linebackers generally aren't fast enough to keep up with him in coverage and cornerbacks don't have the strength to tackle him one-on-one in physically bring them down which would normally lead to a broken tackle or a nasty stiff arm or just bully ball play sure you could find a receiver with comparable speed like Cooper but he's faster than Cooper sure you can find a wide receiver that is the same size but he's probably More powerful than them and a better blocker.  The size speed athleticism package that he is in is completely unique it's easier to say I'd rather have just a big blocker because we've never seen this type of profile before I'm a risk taker I think you would be God blessed if this was there at 19 I think if you can get a guy that's a tight end who immediately becomes the fastest guy on your offense and at the same time that third wide receiver that can stretch and burn defenses over the top that's the perfect what the Panthers need type weapon.
    • I think you're under selling Sadiq. They are two different players in terms of how they win. Loveland is 2 inches taller maybe 5-6 pounds heavier. Comparing his speed to sadiq.. well your comparing a 4.7 guy to a 4.3 guy I'm seeing a guy that can take a bubble screen from the tight end position and turn it into a house call. I'm not saying the guy is a certified home run pick but I don't think there's really a president's for a comparison for this kind of athlete. It's easy to say this doesn't look like Warren or Loveland because we haven't seen guys that fit this profile The closest you might be able to get is Vernon Davis.  He's not as sure far as those guys were but at 19 I think almost everybody is going to have some warts and he's a lottery ticket of could be top 10 in the draft player or could fail I am more of a risk taker I think he fits the athletic profile that could be a homerun, like I said he's almost 40 lb bigger than Cooper and like 4-5 in taller than Cooper so and he's faster. So whatever you think Cooper gives you I think he does that and more. If you want to go with one of the office alignment I can understand that as well but for value as a receiving threat I don't think there's a bigger value at number 19.
