Among other things in that article...

FRIDAY FINE TIME — Panthers defensive tackle Damione Lewis was fined $5,000 by the league for last week's hit on Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Lewis was flagged for roughing the passer on the play, during which he fell into Brees' legs just as the pass was thrown.

I didn't think this was a penalty at the time and I don't think it deserves a fine either... I don't want QB's hurt but they can't even hardly be touched now...

Anybody got a link to a clip of this hit?

He hit his knees. No question about it. Dumb move by Lewis. Glad to see Sharper got fined on his hit on Smith though.

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
