You know, I don't recall ever starting a new thread on this forum.  I feel like I pretty much engage in intelligent conversation with most of you, and while some may disagree with me, I think I at least put thought into the things I say.

All that being said, I have to ask, why in God's name can just anyone start a thread about anything?

Let me dumb it down, WHEN WILL WE SEE CAM'S REPLACEMENT?

My guess by time Michael Kern enters into the draft...

Or better question when is the next time you see Carolina in the Superbowl?

Only two QBs have, and they only got there once.

Hell the current QBs hope they can see a playoff game

Here's the thing: The Panthers aren't looking for CAMS REPLACEMENT. Some fans might be, but the Panthers are not.

They're looking for a starting quarterback. And given the offense that we run, that quarterback's playing style might look a lot more like Drew Brees than Cam Newton.

That's the problem, looking for a starting QB.

There's plenty of starting QBs in the NFL.

And Drew Brees was a FRANCHISE QB.

So again I ask when will the Panthers realize the only way to the mountain top is with an elite talent at the QB position?

Or do they keep settling for MEDIOCRITY

    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
    • They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
    • Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that.  Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
