If only Hakanpaa had scored, too!

He was too busy laying the lumber (6 hits). At this point, anything he does beyond protecting his team is gravy.

I'm sure I'm not the only who's noticed more physicality up and down the roster since he joined the team. Until Hak joined the team, the Canes were unable to incorporate a complimentary physical aspect to their play. Now, it seems they have achieved a balance of still playing their brand of hockey, but with the added sauce of physicality.

Just look at Svech since Hak joined the team. Andrei is more physical the last month than he's been all season. Even the young guys aren't backing down to some of the old guard around the league. Earlier this month Lorentz was ready to go with Comeau (Dallas) after a pretty questionable hit (he was hit with a minor).

I don't mind personally for a few reasons, Nashville is an easier round 1 matchup IMO, I'm fully confident we can get 3 points in 3 games and it keeps us playing at full tilt (I want to see the Presidents cup).

I agree. I’d rather see the stars split with Tampa though and tonight’s the night to do it unless Nashville fugs up vs The Blue Jackets:

Best case scenario is nashville has already clinched by the time we play. And Tampa loses one going into their season capper with Florida. Minnesota is outplaying Vegas right now. I think Colorado is going to be the only challenge for the presidents cup because they literally are playing the dregs of the west except for once Vs. Vegas.

Of course we control the destiny for the entire NHL currently, so as long as we keep getting points we are good.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
