How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?

Brett began his career with 3 straight winning seasons as a starting QB...there is nothing "bad" about that.

Is Sam injury prone?

Must of had a great team because his stats and rating was on par with Sam on year 3. The Golden Calf of Bristol took his team to the playoffs as a starting QB and won on the road on the playoffs. Must be good. Teddy was 5-0 as a Saints starter. Must be good. Taysum Hill has a winning record as a starting QB, so why are they not starting him? Is Sean Payton not smart enough to realize a winning record is what makes a QB good? See wins are the sign of a good TEAM. Troy Aiken also had a losing record after year 3. Started off 1-15, that’s Clausen bad! 19-29 after year 3. Sound have cut his ass right?

Ahhh so you have no response. Perfect. You wanted some examples I gave you some. Can’t help it if it didn’t line up with your trolling.
Ask for data. Receive data. Try to change data. Then give up and mock the other person. Well done! Nice debate. Go study the Appaloosa Model some more, it’s the only thing you know because no one else cares enough about it to fact check you on it.

Oh I responded...you must have missed it.

"...has there ever been a QB drafted top-3 who only failed with his initial team...was given up on and traded for a paltry round 2 pick...

...and then went on to have agreat career at his very next stop?"

Favre ain't it.

Why is the "given up on" so crucial for the comparison?

Why does a turn around example you are looking for require jets level of stupidity?  Why must the many examples of 3 yr suckage with a turn around be followed by cut ties?

Because the jets are masters of evaluating talent and so Darnold must suck because the jets said so?

He looked just as bad his first 3 years as several QBs including the great Brett Favre. The Jets franchise trading him has no relevance other than adding one more asterisk so you can exclude him from this list. Had we found someone else you would just add another like “in the last 10 years” or “for a future 2nd.” So plenty of QBs have been where he is at and turned it around. Take your trolling someone else. Honestly I’m not even saying he will turn it around, I’m just annoyed at posters who come on here just to talk down about this team. At least some of the others are actually good at it though and have actual data to back it up. You just tried and failed pretty bad....

Because it’s the extra bit of info needed to try to prove his point no matter how irrelevant it is. They also need to have been drafted on an even year during a leap year. See it’s never happened before therefore it can never happen!

What is the Darnold bull-case predicated on?

Also, the fact that he managed to finish out his last 2 seasons with More TDs than INTs still, is a testament to his talent.

In fact, in his "best" season as a Jet, he had 2 games where he threw a bunch of INTs.   Take away those two games and he'd have been 17 TDs and 6 (yes...SIX!) INTs.

In the ghost game, the pats ran cover 0 blitz over and over and the jets couldn't handle it....five interceptions.

The Patriots made Sam Darnold and Patrick Mahomes see ghosts with the exact same blitz - YouTube

In 2020, on 68.9% of his dropbacks, he wasn’t even blitzed. That means defenses were getting to him without sending extra defenders leaving LB's back for coverage.

    • While I'd love to add him, it just doesn't make sense for where we are at in our re-build right now. The only teams who should be interested are those who have a very legitimate shot at winning the SB this season, as any team who makes the trade is going to be mortgaging their future to make the move. Teams who make these kinds of trades and then give them the massive contract, in the hopes that it will expedite their path to contention, ALWAYS ends up backfiring because they have to give up the 1st round picks that are then needed to help build out the rest of the roster after eating up such a significant chunk of the cap on the new contract. There is no way the Cowboys trade him for anything less than 2 future 1st rounders (and probably more), plus we'll have to make him the highest paid non QB in league history.  Not to mention that it would then have made the Scourton and/or Princely picks a bit of a waste, as those 2nd and 3rd round picks would have been better off used on a ILB or DB
    • Like his approach to pre season that's ro get them out there and play together for a few plays and right about the night before and morning before.  Maybe we can come out the gate on fire I can smell the smoke from here!!   Go Panthers
    • Only 26 years old, fills the biggest hole on our roster. Top 3 at his respective position, yeah fug it how often does a future HOF player become available in their prime?
