Cam was a good QB for the most part during his time here. Jake was above average to fairly good for a while, Steve was average to maybe above average, and all the others were meh at best. That's not downplaying them either. It's giving an honest assessment that you don't agree with.

I gave you Cam, Jake, and Steve, and you pood all over them. You said, "There are some ok to a few good years in their stats, but not a lot."

Now, you say this, "Cam was a good QB for the most part during his time here. Jake was above average to fairly good for a while, Steve was average to maybe above average,"

1. Cam revolutionized the way teams view the QB position.

2. Jake was good until Tommy Jone showed up

3. Buerlein was really good until Seifert showed up.

Between the 3 of them, that is basically 18 of our 26 years. I would say we have done pretty goodly for ourselves for the most part.

I think Darnold will do okay for the first half of the season. I think the last stretch is what will really test him, and the fan bases loyalty to the guy.

You could really argue that from the New England game on in week 9, the Panthers face a fairly tough test through the air each week outside of the Falcons in week 14.

Yes, and it is really a good schedule  It gives all the new pieces time to gel and have a chance for early successes.  Hopefully Darnold continues his habit of finishing stronger later in the season.

A few good years between and one being mostly good, one mostly above average, and one average is about the same thing because all that matters is 7 winning seasons with zero back to back winning seasons out of all their years here.

Cam did not revolutionize the way teams view QBs. Warren Moon, Steve Young, Steve McNair, and John Elway all played similar styles years before Cam. So does Ben R in Pittsburgh.

Not a ton of yards in through the air, not a ton of TDs, and a pedestrian completion percentage from all three. Not too good. But once again, the only thing that matters is 7 winning seasons out of those 18 years. That's not pretty good either. Have a good night.

Ok, I'm done. You are never going to give ANY Panther QB their due. You probably feel the same way about all other players as well.

It really is too bad you can't see what you are missing. Cuz it is some amazing stuff.

But hey, you can hang your hat on our overall record.

Look Cam was not the most prolific passer and most unbiased fans will agree. In his prime he could sling it no problem but what made him an intimidating force were his rushing abilities which were and still are in very rare company historically especially in the red zone. He has the most rushing touchdowns in league history and he is second all time in rushing yards. At his best the man was a human cheat code and he absolutely changed the position and the way teams look at dynamic ability now. Because Cam was not the slam dunk first overall pick in the minds of quite a few analysts and coaches ten years ago. If you ask any of these younger quarterbacks now who also have similar ability they will tell you the impact Newton had on how they wanted to play in college and the pros.

I give them their due when they earn it.

As for missing out, is losing fun? It's hard to be pumped up for a big play when the team loses the game.

Yessir, Cam defiantly changed how coaches view the QB position. And he was ours. Nobody will ever be able to take that away from us!!!!!

It's football. Not life or death. Enjoy it, enjoy the big plays, enjoy the anticipation for the coming thing. Just enjoy the experience. After all. It's only entertainment.

If you get upset over every loss. After 26 years, you'd have an ulcer. Which could explain why so many folks seem, a tad....edgy.

If you find yourself upset over a loss, you may be taking it a tad too cereal. Life is tough enough. Losing a football game barely moves the needle.

I can enjoy the game for what it is. And walk away to get on with my life. Easy peasy.

Oh, and the Huddle is the bomb.

What would be preferred in a 20 year window though….

2 Super Bowl appearances…..or none and more consistent regular season records where we stacked consecutive winning seasons sporadically?

Cam was a unicorn at the QB spot.  There simply was Cam.   No one did or has played from the QB spot like Cam IMO.   There isn’t a NFL comp.

Only RB drafted in the first round in 2011 was Mark Ingram.  Has played every season.  A bruising runner.   In his career, he has tallied 367 first downs on the ground.

That is why Cam will always be a unicorn.   Cam is at 400+.  No QB has ever presented the threat Cam did for opposing DCs.

*thats along with his NFL record TD benchmark.   Greatest short yardage weapon to ever play the game.   Because he also had the arm to make any throw in the book while threatening to truck any defender in the game (another feat no one has ever threatened opponents with).

According to @jayboogieman "Cam was a good QB for the most part during his time here." We can't even get our own fans to appreciate what Cam brought to the table.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
